"And what would those be?"

Khan lowered his staff. "Ankhara. I can't leave it in Hasina's hands."

"Finally, you see sense." Sargon turned to face him. "Do you have a plan on how to take the city back?"

"Not exactly. Fen gave me some excellent advice. She said I needed to stop thinking like my father and sister and believing I needed to act as they would. I can't have any more deaths on my hands, Grandfather. There has to be another way. I just need to find what it is."

Sargon placed a hand on Khan's shoulder. "You have my support, and you will have the council's. Hasina's ruling will be bad for all of Aaru. I know you never wanted the throne, but there is so much good you can do with it."

"I know. I'm trying to keep that in the forefront of my mind."

Sargon's grin was back. "Fen is as wise as she is beautiful. It would be good to keep a woman like that by your side."

"You think the Ankharian court would accept an ex-slave as a consort?" Khan asked.

"You will be pharaoh. They will have no choice but to accept it." Sargon shrugged. "There needs to be some benefit to you being in charge. Mind you, you will have to convince Fen to be your consort which might be a harder task."

"This is true. It's too early to be thinking of such things anyway," Khan replied.

"Is it, though? You are someone who takes a long time to make up his mind about something, but when you do, you are all in." Sargon tapped him on the ass with his training staff. "You are lucky I'm not twenty years younger, or you would have competition on your hands."

"You are lucky you have a widow's braid," Fen called from the patio where she was holding a mug of tea.

Khan jumped in surprise. "How long have you been there?"

"Long enough to hear I might have made my decision too early," she replied, winking cheekily in Sargon's direction. He laughed, a deep booming sound that Khan hadn't heard in years.

"Stop flirting with her," Khan warned playfully. "It's bad enough that I must deal with the twins all the time."

Fen's smile only widened. "Speaking of the twins, they are here and eating all your breakfast. And you can flirt with me as much as you like, Sargon."

"I plan to." Sargon pulled on a shirt. "I suppose we better go and eat and talk more about your plans to take back Ankhara."

"You are making plans?" Fen asked as they joined her.

"A very gorgeous woman convinced me it was a good idea." Khan planted a kiss on her cheek. "So I'm hoping she will also help me figure out how to do it."

"She could be convinced." Her eyes were hot as they looked him over and Khan instantly regretted not staying in bed longer.

Sargon bumped his shoulder against Khan's. "Let's go and eat before you two get any other ideas."

"What ideas?" Khan asked innocently.

"I have so many ideas," Fen said simultaneously.

Sargon clapped his hands. "No, stop it. Quickly now, before Kash and Kemes eat everything."

Fen took Khan's hand and gave him a playful smile. "Come on, my prince, you'll need fuel in that body for later."

Yes, he definitely should have stayed in bed.

The twins took one look at Khan and burst out laughing. He shot them an offensive gesture.

"Well, well, she finally made a man out of you," Kashmet said, grinning from ear to ear.

"He is the virgin prince no longer," Fen replied, making the twins laugh harder.
