Glenn must have been projecting his inner turmoil on his face because Lucky leaned back in his chair and lifted his hands, palms facing Glenn. “No pressure. It’s just, I’ve seen you working in the ring when the gym is empty. I think you have more rounds left in you.”

He did have more rounds left in him, but he hadn’t spoken to anyone about that other than Vivien. And now he was being offered the chance to not only do that but also have his dream job. He could coach and train, and fight. He’d be in a town with his family. They’d be able to help out with Bree if he needed to put in extra hours training.

He was getting everything handed to him on a silver platter, but something was holding him back.

Lucky stood. “You don’t have to give me an answer now. Just think about it.”

“I’ll do that and thank you.” Glenn left the office feeling more confused than he had in a long time.

For most of his life, he knew exactly what he needed to do. Before his parents died, it was all boxing all the time. Once they were gone, he took a step back because he knew that he needed to make sure that Gabe was okay. And after his brother’s MMA career was on track, Glenn went back to boxing but everything came to a halt when his brother got sick. Then he found out that Zoe was pregnant and he just never looked back.

Now, he had options. He could move here, have his dream job, raise his daughter with family, and get back in the ring.

So why the hell wasn’t he jumping at the opportunity?

Then Vivien’s face appeared in his mind. It wasn’t a new thing. He thought about her nearly every minute of his waking hours. He closed his eyes to go to sleep and he saw her. While he slept he dreamed about her. When his alarm went off and he opened his eyes she was the first thing he thought of.

He pictured her cute ass walking up the steps of her house after she’d called him a sociopath because he got up after one alarm.

He envisioned her lips turning up in a seductive grin as she’d leaned over the counter and told him that a kiss wasn’t a big deal.

He fantasized about the way her eyes widened when he pounced on top of her like a lion on his prey when they’d been in bed in the cabin.

In the few short weeks he’d been here, she’d consumed him. And they’d been honest with each other about what was between them and what wasn’t. He wouldn’t expect her to put her life on hold just because he was infatuated with her.

He’d hear about her dating other guys. The memory of the night she’d gone out and told him where she was going flashed back in his mind. He’d hated thinking about her spending time with another man. The three hours and twenty-six minutes she’d been gone had been torture. And that was before they’d spent the night together.

That was before he knew the soft moans she made when he was buried deep inside of her. That was before he’d felt her soft lips pressed against his. That was before he’d memorized every curve of her body.

Now that he had, he was fucked.

She didn’t date single dads and admitted to having fucked up relationships with men. He’d made a promise to himself that he wasn’t going to date until Bree was off to college. But they’d both crossed the line.

Which would have been fine if it was just a one-time thing. The problem was, he wanted to cross it again. Hell, he wanted to permanently erase the damn thing.

He was walking back to the locker room to grab his bag when his phone rang. He saw that it was Amy calling and he picked it up.

“Hey, I was just lea—”

“Bree fell out of a tree,” Amy interrupted and Glenn heard his daughter crying in the background.

“Is she okay? Where are you?”

“She’s fine.” He could hear the stress in Amy’s voice, like she was saying that Bree was ‘fine’so she didn’t upset her any more than she already was. “She hurt her ankle and her wrist. I’m on the way to urgent care. I’ll text you the address.”

Glenn hung up his phone and rushed out to his SUV. As he ran out of the gym everything in his life was put in perspective. All the other shit he’d been worried about, Vivien, the job, his going back to fighting, none of it mattered. The only thing that mattered was his baby girl.
