He frowns. "Waiting? Waiting for what?"

I point my cigarette at the girl running down the steps of the school. "Her."

The three of them turn their heads, watching as Vera and the weird chicks run toward a black Charger.

What the fuck? Where is she going?

"Why are you waiting for her? What the hell is going on?" Felix barks at me, shoving Levi out of the way. "Why weren't you in class? Were you with her?"

I open the door, shoving him out of the way. The water seeps into my clothes instantly, my hair flattening against my forehead. I push it out of the way, my cigarette fizzing out, the rain soaking into the paper and making it fall apart in my hands. I drop it on the ground and glare at my friends. "Quit being a pussy. We're still on. Actually, we'll get her tonight, okay? Just wait for my fucking word."

With that, I shove away from them, heading toward the enemy. What, does she expect I'll sit in my car like a damn puppy and wait to bring her home? She was just planning to leave with someone else, and not tell me?

More than that, where the hell is she going? Who is she going with? What the fuck does she plan on doing? She's not going to get comfortable here. I won't allow it.

I stomp through the parking lot, my boots viciously landing in puddles, making water fly in all directions. It's like she can tell when I'm near, because her hand freezes on the door handle of the car, her hair turning wet, her clothes sticking to every inch of her skin. She glances at me over her shoulder, the makeup around her eyes sliding down her cheeks.

"What do you want?" she screams as she opens the door.

"Where the fuck do you think you're going?" I bark at her.

She rolls her eyes, opening up the door. "To my friend's house."

My palm slaps the top of the door, shutting it so hard the entire car rocks. "You aren't going anywhere, and you don't have any friends here."

The window rolls down, and a redhead in the backseat shouts at me, "Actually, she is our friend. Now let her go and quit harassing her."

I pin Vera against the side of the door, curling my hand around the wet window and leaning down so I'm eye level with this random. "Who the fuck are you?" I know these girls; I’m just being an asshole. But I am being honest when I ask what her name is. She’s clearly enough of a loser that she doesn’t hang out with my crowd.

Weirdos.

"My name is Blaire, asshole. I've been going to school with you since forever." She rolls her eyes. "Let go of Vera and get out of here, you creep."

I laugh, shaking my hair out. It sprays against Vera's face, and she covers her eyes and wipes her cheeks. It's pointless and makes no sense, though, because her face is already drenched from the rain.

Or, maybe it's just me she's trying to rub off of her.

Doesn't she know? I'm already inside. Deeply, deeply inside of her.

My hand goes up, and I wrap my fingers around Vera's neck, cocking her face up to look me in the eyes. "Listen to me and listen good. Next time you feel like flitting off with your little sister whores, you let me know. If you ever, ever make me wait for you again, I'll make you fuck my knife again. But this time, it won't be your dirty cunt my knife will be inside,” I whisper in her ear, my lips brushing the wet skin. Leaning back, I look her in the eyes, watching the large orbs stare up at me in shock.

She snaps out of it with a shiver. Standing on her toes, she presses her body against mine. "Promise?" she whispers.

I'm momentarily stunted by her raspy tone that I don’t notice as she slips into the vehicle. I blink, glancing down at her hateful smile. The one I want to carve off her face and paste on my wall. I lift an eyebrow, knowing the moment she gets back to my house…

It's game on.

VERA

"What the fuck is wrong with him?" Blaire shouts as we drive away. The rain pounds against the windows, and I roll mine up, wiping the rain drops from my arm. The fast swipe of the wipers scraping across the windshield makes an obnoxious groan.

"He's a psychopath," I mumble, glancing his way through the window. Water drips from his arms and the back of his hair as he walks through the downpour.

It seems that whenever I'm around him, the worst of me makes its way to the surface. All the bad and dirty inside me seeps through my pores and I snap at him like the vicious snake he believes me to be.

I hate the fact that whenever he’s around me, he turns my skin to fire. Even a slight touch is like static. We’re oil and water, we shouldn’t mix. Yet, we do. It’s frightening, and I hate it, nearly as much as I hate him.
