“No!” Felix roars, shooting forward, ripping her off me, shoving her over the edge.
My skin turns blood red, her fingers burning away the skin on my arm. I pull it back, hissing out a breath, just as a flood of dead bodies knock into me, pushing me to the ground.
“Hazel!” I cover my head as I glance up, seeing Felix fighting against the hoard of bodies that make their way to this side of Castle Pointe.
I hear splashing, and the scent of gasoline fills the air. Warm hands wrap around me, and Felix pulls me into his arms, holding me tightly as his hand goes to each side of my face. He doesn’t say a word, but his eyes say so much, conveying what he refuses to be true.
There’s something there. Something deep.
Air fills my lungs when he shoves me aside, instantly grabbing at a dead man that was walking toward me. He pulls him to the edge of the cliff, pushing him over without a second thought.
Malik is stalking around quickly, pouring gasoline on the bridge, as far as he can make it, while Atticus goes around with another, pouring it on dead bodies with his uninjured arm, his other one strapped tight to his chest.
Vera comes up to me, handing me a lighter. “Light these bitches on fire.”
I grab the black lighter from her grip, just as another scream hits my ears. I turn my head, my eyes widening when I see Piper hanging over the cliff, her fingers barely able to hold on to the edge.
“Piper!” I scream, the lighter dropping from my hands as I race toward her. My knees slam against the ground as my hands slap on top of hers.
“Someone’s hanging on to her!” Vera screams.
I try to pull on her arms, but she’s suctioned to the edge, and she can’t move.
“Move. Move!” Levi barks at me, shoving me out of the way. He grabs the back of her shirt, pulling her toward him. “Don’t you dare fucking drop, Piper,” he growls, so much anger and desperation in his tone it causes a shiver to roll down my spine.
Oomph.
I’m knocked to the ground, a young woman digging her fingers into me. She lets out a crackling breath, like her lungs are filled with dirt and water. Her eyes are white, and the wet, black strands of her hair slide across my skin. She smells like death.
I let out a cry, trying to shove her off. Her fingers go up, dancing over me, and it feels like absolute hell as she runs her fingers along my face.
My hand goes up to her face, and I push with all my might, the skin slipping from her skull, revealing aged, gray bones beneath. I let out a horrified scream as her white eyes pierce mine, and I can literally feel her evil seeping into me.
Snap.
Felix stands above her, her skull in his hands as her body now lays limp on top of me. His eyes are nearly black as he watches me with absolute fury.
“Try to not get yourself fucking killed, Hazel,” he growls, ripping the dead body off mine.
My chest heaves, my back against the ground, limbs shaking. I glance to the side, seeing Piper standing next to Levi, looking absolutely shook up, wiping her eyes as she glances over the ledge.
Whoosh.
A body goes up in flames, and Felix grabs me, lifting me into the air and stepping back. He shoves me against Malik’s car, pinning me tightly to the hood. I can feel the flames against my face of the burning body in front of me, the crackling of skin, the horrified screams ripping from its throat.
“You’re fucking beautiful when you’re scared,” he whispers, his finger brushing the apple of my cheek.
“Felix, look out!” Malik shouts, and Felix rips me away from the car, shoving me between Malik’s and mine.
“Stay here,” he snaps, pointing to my spot on the ground.
I frown at him as he races away from me, and my eyes widen in disbelief.
It looks… like hell.
Like we are in absolute hell.
Bodies burn, lit up by flames as they run around, falling off the edge of the cliff one by one. The bridge is also on fire, finally having separated from our side of Castle Pointe. The other side of the bridge is connected, burning on the side of the cliff. The sky is lit up red, the full blood moon staring down at us.
