My dead heart stutters at her words.

How can someone as perfect as Cara even look my way? And now? I’m a fucking cripple. What can I give her?

Nothing.

“I just don’t want you to feel obligated to help me.”

“I don’t.” Her eyebrows lift.

“If this shit goes south, it’s on you.”

She rolls her eyes. “Whatever.”

“You really are a pain in the ass.”

Almost on cue, the baby lets out a little cry. Like he didn’t like me saying anything negative about his mom.

I glance at him, and Cara looks curiously at me before looks down at him. She winces. “He’s probably getting hungry.”

The thought of her taking her tit out in front of me for the little mongrel to feast on does things to me. Things that make me equally aroused and furious. I have no right to think about her like that anymore. No doubt, her tits are round and heavy since she got pregnant, now post pregnancy, her body is bangin’.

Absolutely unreal.

She’s short as hell, but she’s got curves in all the right places. Her hips have flared since giving birth, but her waist is still tiny, has been all throughout her pregnancy.

But I shouldn’t even be having these thoughts, because she’s not mine anymore.

“Can I put on the TV or something for you while I go feed him?” She asks over Wesley’s increasingly loud cries.

See? Look. I’m already causing chaos.

“Go.” I nod my head towards the bedroom.

My eyes are anything but joking as I order her to leave. She realizes this, stepping backwards away from me and then fleeing to her room. She pushes the door closed with her foot, leaving it cracked just a bit for me to still hear her.

There’s shuffling and then mumbling. Cara’s soft voice as she talks to Wesley. “It’ll be okay, buddy. He’s not as scary as he seems. We just need to give him a little time to adjust.”

My jaw clenches so tightly pain shoots up to my temples.

I shouldn’t be here.

I need to go home.

I listen as she shuffles around and then Wesley’s cries turn into whimpers and then finally quiet. I stare around her house, doing nothing besides taking in all the changes. Baby stuff is littered about. Blankets hanging over the chairs and bottles sitting on a weird grass-looking thing on the counter.

Cara is officially a mother.

Not only is this place babyproofed, but it’s also been reconstructed to look like a handicap wet dream. All the walkways have been widened, whether they cleaned up or took some of the countertop in the kitchen away, I’m not sure. The rooms have practically been emptied besides essentials and baby stuff.

“Sorry that took so long, he’s really hard to put down sometimes.” Cara comes out, readjusting her top, and I try not to stare at her tits as they jiggle from the movements.

I glance at the bedroom, noticing that Wesley isn’t with her. “Is he sleeping?”

“Yeah. He still doesn’t stay awake too long. Then he’s usually up all night.” He looks at me with a sad smile. “I’m exhausted.”

“Hasn’t Rose been helping with him?” If I could move, I would’ve taken him off her hands so she can sleep an entire day away. But that’s not in the cards. Not now. Not ever. I’m essentially a useless parent at this point.

“She has, but when he needs to eat…” She gestures to her chest, and my nostrils flare on an exhale. “I don’t know about you, but I’m tired.” Without asking, she walks behind me and moves the wheelchair to be besides the couch.
