The ten acres that I bought is mostly wooded area, but Rich had people come mow down an acre so that we could have a place to put our house. I was able to buy this land for dirt cheap, being it’s in The Grove, it's been for sale for well over a year.

“This is your new home, Wesley. You won’t have to worry about the bullshit from that park a day in your life.”

He looks up at me, so much wonder and trust in his gaze. If life could only be that simple. We could enjoy the meaningless adventures of life. But that’s not my life. It’ll always be filled with danger and complications. All I can do is give him the most protected, enjoyable life I can.

And as I sit on the edge of the tree line with my son, it’s there that I make him a promise. No matter what direction life takes us, I’ll always be there to protect him and treat him exactly how a father should treat his son.

“Wesley Logan Shaw, you’re my greatest weakness. But you’re also my greatest strength. I love you, son.” I rub his head as he looks out at the trees in awe.

Love might be an emotion that has been difficult for me to understand. But when it comes to my son, it feels like the most natural thing in the world.

“Come on,Wesley, be a good boy for mommy.” Cara whines from the other room.

After a long day of unpacking, we’re almost fully settled into our new place. Cara is beat, and Wesley is having a hard time settling down in his new room. I get it, it’s weird being in a new place. New smells, new sights. He a little over three months old now, and even though he’s still so young, I’m sure he’s grown used to our old place.

I asked Cara if she wanted me to put him down, but with an irritated shake of her head she adjusted her shirt and walked him to his crib.

Whatever.

With a sigh, I rip my sweaty shirt over my head. I haven’t been able to help with much besides handing things off to the next person or putting away small stuff away like clothes into dressers or kitchenware into the bottom drawers.

Now I’m just irritated for my uselessness, and the irritation only grows when Cara’s irritated. Why the fuck is she irritated with me? Giving me a look like I’m the one not wanting to go to bed.

I glide over to our bed, turn the chair off and maneuver myself onto the mattress. It’s always a difficult task, and on multiple accounts I’ve biffed shit and fallen on the floor. But I’m getting used to it, and now I can get on the bed with almost no issues. I try to bend down and pull my pants off, but like always, they get stuck near my ankles.

“Fucking shit.” I look up, closing my eyes as I hear Cara finally getting Wesley to sleep. Finally.

A few minutes later, I hear her padding down the hall. Irritation can even be heard in her steps. When she walks into the bedroom, she barely passes me a glance.

“Cara.”

No response.

“Cara.” I say again, this time with a threatening edge in my tone.

She looks up at me, slamming her hands on her hips and lashing out a, “What?”

“Drop the fucking attitude.”

She rolls her eyes, going back to grabbing some clothes. She’s probably going to take a shower, but no way in hell am I letting her walk away acting like a bitch.

“Come here.”

“No. I want to take a shower.”

“I’m sorry, I wasn’t aware you had a choice.” My lip curls around my teeth at her attitude. If I could walk, her back would’ve already been on the floor and my cock would be making her shut the hell up.

She looks up at me with fire in her eyes. “Can’t I be in a bad mood? I’m just fucking tired, don’t be a damn dick.”

“Then do what you’re told and come here.”

She gets up, dropping her clothes to the ground and walking over to me. “I wasn’t aware this was a submissive relationship.”

“It’s not, but I can sure make it one if you’d like.”

“Um, no.” She laughs. “What did you want? I really want to go take a shower; I stink.” She frowns as she crosses her arms across her chest.
