My dad nods at me. “That’s up to Aziel. This is his battle. He wanted to destroy the Mexicans and their sex trafficking trade. We’ve accomplished that. The question is, how long do you want this to go on for?”

I sit back, going through the motions of pulling out another cigarette without even thinking about it.

My mind is racing.

What the hell should I do?

I have a few options. I’m just not sure which choice is the best to make.

I can call it quits. I’ve saved hundreds of girls. We can go fight the battles that we need to fight. Deal with the important shit.

Or I can continue to destroy the sex trade, ripping it down piece by piece until there is nothing left in its wake.

“I think we need to wait. See what happens for a while. Do we know for sure that the Russians are part of this now?”

Pascal nods. “I don’t know how deep it is, but maybe they’re starting small.”

“I don’t think we should rush into anything. We should see what the Mexican’s next move is going to be, if anything. Maybe this will all blow over. Maybe not. I just don’t want to rush into anything.”

That, and my gimp fucking leg will get me nowhere anytime soon.

My dad’s slams his mallet on the table. “It’s settled then. We’ll hold off on making any moves for a while.” He nods as if he agrees with my decision.

Everyone stands up as if to leave.

“Wait.” I say. There’s one thing that’s been on my mind that I need to deal with.

My dad looks over at me. “What is it?”

“I need some help. We need to get our PI to do a little digging.”

West frowns. “Digging with what?” He’s grown close to Ivy. Closer than I’d like, but I know he was there for her when I was gone. They are good friends. I can’t fault either of them for that.

I just don’t like it.

“I want someone to dig into Ivy’s old friend, Katie.”

“Why?” West leans over the table a bit, concern and interest in his gaze.

“She’s mentioned her a bit when we’ve talked. With her parents gone, Katie is really the only person from her past that might still be out there. If we can find her, I think Ivy would like to see her. Maybe we can bring her out here or something for a visit? That is, if she’s still around.”

My dad nods. “I’ll go call him now.”

“Thanks.” I nod, relief flowing through me. We all have a shit life, but Ivy’s has been particularly shitty. If she can see her childhood best friend, I know she would be over the fucking moon.

It’s the least I can do for her for staying with my crazy ass.

Three Months Later

Pulling up to the clubhouse, I watch as Bronson smiles at us and presses the button, lifting the gate in front of us.

“Shit, Vi. I really didn’t need to get all this shit.” I sigh, staring at the bags of clothes sitting at my feet.

“Are you kidding me? Of course, you did. You haven’t gone shopping since you got here. Your clothes from last fall were all I could grab when I did a quick run to the store after you first got here. It’s summer now, you needed something new.”
