Page 50 of Chaotic Anger

I strap on a pair of sandals and head out, looking around Aziel’s room one last time before shutting the door behind me. It’s only been a couple days, but it’s slowly transforming into a place I feel comfortable. Little spaces in the room are starting to be filled with my things, and it feels good to have something that feels like home.

Even if it’s temporary.

I close the door behind me and walk down the stairs. I don’t see anyone in the kitchen area. No Haley, no Violet or Lilah. No Aziel. I don’t want to go around searching for him, so I decide to walk over to the other side of the room where the pool table and couch sits. There’s a massive TV on the wall in front of an oversized sectional. There are gaming systems hooked up and an unlimited stack of movies below it. Behind the couches sits a pristine looking pool table, the balls still scattered around the table from its previous game.

The exposed brick walls are filled with motorcycle pictures, portraits of past members, and even some classic neon beer signs. There’s also a drawing, done by an artist, obviously. It’s a framed picture of the emblem I see on the back of the guy’s cuts. There’s a large circle, with the words The Seven MC written in harsh lettering inside. Around the letters are flames. Angry, brutal flames that wrap around each letter as if trying to obliterate the words.

It’s beautiful.

I walk around the couch and am about to sit down when I see a body laying on it. “Oh my God!” I stand back up and step back. “I’m so sorry.”

West sits there, looking in pain as he stares at me. “It’s okay.”

I didn’t sit on him, so I’m not sure why his face is scrunched up in discomfort. “Is something wrong? Are you sick?”

“Just nursing a hell of a hangover. Fucking killer headache, you know what I mean?”

I bite my lip. “Uh, no, I don’t.”

He slides his feet to the ground and sits up, brushing his blonde shaggy hair out of his face and clutching his head. “Fucking hell.” He shakes the pain away before looking over at me. “What do you mean, you don’t know? You don’t drink or somethin’?”

“Well, I do. Or, I have, I guess. But not enough to get drunk.”

He looks me over from head to toe, his look going from contemplative to irritated. “What the hell kind of life were you living, girl? What’d he do to you down there?”

I tense, and he lifts his hands in surrender. “Sorry, I didn’t mean to make you upset. And sit down, would you? You’re making my head hurt more for having to cock my head all goofy like this.”

“Sorry.” I sit down obediently. He notices, his lip curling up in distaste. “I don’t know what kind of shit you went through down there, but we’re all on your side here. You seem like a good kid.”

I pick at my fingernail. “I don’t know. Doesn’t seem like everyone likes me.”

He rears back. “Like who? I’ll punch them in the face for you.”

I crack a smile. “I don’t want you to do that. It’s just… the other day, when you guys were grilling me about Tijuana… people didn’t seem very receptive towards me.”

“We had to see if you were a risk. Or a threat.” He lifts an eyebrow.

“Am I?” I feel more like a bad omen than anything else.

He stares at me like he’s about to deliver terrible news. He doesn’t say anything for a beat too long, to the point it gets uncomfortable. I’m about to stand up and try to leave this place again when he starts laughing. “No, you’re not a threat, Ivy. And no one has a problem with you, so don’t worry about that. If anyone does, we’ll put them in their place. Mostly Aziel, he’s been a fucking wolf since you got here.” He keeps laughing.

“What does that mean?” I squint at him.

He stops laughing, looking at me seriously. “Nothing, I’m kidding. You’ll be fine here, kid.”

“How come every time I go looking for you, I find you with this ugly mug?” The irritated voice comes from behind me.

I look over my shoulder, seeing Aziel glaring at West.

“Oh, hi.” I stand up from the couch, walking around and standing beside Aziel. “I didn’t know where you were and wouldn’t even know where to look. I thought I’d wait here for you and found West laying on the couch.”

“Uh huh.” He scowls at West who ends up laughing at him.

“Dude…” West breaks off to laugh again. “You’re done for.” He clutches his head. “Fucking hell.”

Aziel ignores him, turning towards me. “You ready?”

“Yeah, sure.” I wave to West on our way out. “Have you seen Lilah anywhere? I figured I’d find her down here eating.”
