Page 54 of Chaotic Anger

I look over my shoulder to hand Aziel his hat. He takes it from me, not even cracking a smile or glancing my way. His focus is directly on his bike, and there is no straying from his eyes.

He lifts me by the waist and sets me on his bike and then leans over the seat, turning it on and revving it a couple times.

Then he goes behind me to the bag that sits on the back, opening the top and pulling out a gun.

A fucking gun?!

“What the—”

“Not a word, Ivy.” He growls, turning around and walking away from the bike. I look up, seeing a familiar looking car at the other end of the alleyway. I can’t see inside, but the twisting of my stomach tells me it’s one of Santiago’s men staring at me.

Or worse…

The window was cracked, but it suddenly rolls up and the car starts reversing.

Aziel cocks the gun back and aims at the tire.

Bang.

The tire goes flat. Aziel quickens his pace, walking up to the driver’s side and slamming the butt of his gun against the window. It cracks, and then he slams his elbow into the window, shattering it and scattering glass all over the street and inside the driver’s side door. One of Santiago’s workers looks at Aziel angrily as he swears at him in a string of Spanish. Aziel doesn’t even give him a moment, his finger pulls the trigger and sends a bullet straight through the man’s skull.

I sit there stunned on the back of his bike as Aziel runs back to me, all tattoos and wet clothes and slips in front of me with ease, revving the bike again before taking off down the street. He says nothing, does nothing. His body sits tense in front of me, nothing like he was earlier. I can’t help but feel like it’s me that put us at risk today. My being here that made this guy show up at Aziel’s safe place.

I’m the risk.

But Aziel didn’t even blink. Instead, he saved me.

Again.

Aziel

Fuck.

I whip down the road on the way back to the clubhouse. I can feel Ivy’s fear as she clings to me. Her fingertips dig into my abdomen like she wants to burrow underneath my skin.

It was stupid as fuck to kill the guy in broad daylight. In front of Ivy.

Fuck.

I weave in and out of traffic, going well over the speed limit as I try to get home. I can tell Ivy is moments from losing her shit, and I don’t know how well I’ll be able to reign it in when we’re out in public.

I see another conspicuous van trailing me from behind. They’re fucking idiots. They think I can’t tell that they’re slowing following me, keeping a safe enough distance but close enough they can keep track of me.

I’m only about ten minutes from home at this point, but I don’t want to bring this shit to the club. Seeing an exit with no services, I cut right quickly and slide off the exit. Looking in the rearview mirror, I watch as the van quickly swerves into the right lane to follow me. I speed up, feeling Ivy clutch me harder.

She can tell something’s off.

I turn left, going underneath the underpass and slowing to a stop behind a dried bush. They’ll be able to see me, but it’ll take a moment for them to notice where I am. By then, they’ll already be dead.

I watch as the van slows to a stop, noticing me after a moment—as expected—and pulling a sharp left towards me. I pull the gun from my pants where I slipped it earlier and flicking the safety off, pop a bullet right through the windshield.

I pull the trigger again, and the car swerves off.

“Got em.”

“Oh my, God.” Ivy cries behind me, and I can feel her sobs shakes behind me.
