“It is possible. But you know there is one way to find out,” she said.

“Kiss you until you tell me?” I asked.

“I won’t complain if you try, but I was thinking that you could just ask her,” she said. “But I do like your tactic better.”

“You can have all the kisses you want. I love the fact my sister trusts you. She already looks at you like family. I hope you don’t mind, when you get one of us, you get all of us,” I warned.

“Then I’m one lucky woman. Your family has been so kind and supporting. Even coming to Lori’s memorial service yesterday, they both took the time to sit with me and make sure I was okay. I appreciate them both so much.” She reached up and touched my face and added, “It’s been a long time since I have been part of a family. Thank you for sharing yours with me,” she said.

“I hope you still think that when they are insisting that we have family dinner with them one a week.”

“I don’t have any problems with that as long as I am going with you,” she said.

I claimed her lips and said, “You’ll always have me with you.”

“Robert, can you do me one favor?” she asked.

“Anything. What is it?”

She smiled and said, “Do you think you can turn the oven off? I’m not as hungry as I thought I was.”

“Really? Because kissing you has sparked a hunger deep within me and only your lips can fill this need.”

With her still in my arms, I stood up and carried her into the kitchen. Shutting off the oven, I headed down the hallway and back to her bedroom.

“Now, where were we?” I asked.

“You were about to kiss every inch of me trying to get me to spill my secrets. But I’m warning you, it’s going to take a lot of kissing to learn what you want,” she said.

“I’ve already heard everything I need to. You love me. What else do I need to know,” I said.

“Does that mean I won’t get your endless kisses?” she teased.

“I promise to kiss you first thing every morning, and the last thing every night,” I said.

“And maybe several times throughout the day,” she added, pulling me into her embrace.

And even those won’t ever be enough.

I knew that once our lips connected, we’d be lost in each other again. But the ring was still in my pocket. There was no rush, but before this day was over, I will do what I intended to do when I asked her to talk. I’ll drop down on one knee, profess my undying love again, but this time ask her to be my wife.

For better. For life. Please be my wife.

The End
