I smiled. “Maybe just a little bit.”

“Then maybe it’s time for you to put back on your running sneakers and go get that man you have found before it’s too late,” he said.

“Okay, I will. But Kevin, if what Mikal and I have is real, then it will still be there when I return. I’d like to be able to stay with you another week if that’s okay. I told Kimberly I’d take her shopping so now since the cribs are up, we can start on the fun stuff.”

“What kind of fun stuff?”

“Oh, you will have strollers and highchairs and all kinds of things to put together,” I grinned. “Better keep that toolbox close by. But don’t worry, we are also going to go baby clothes shopping.”

“You don’t even know the sex of the babies yet. How are you going to shop?” he asked.

“I won’t. Kimberly will. But just for the record, you painted the babies’ room. It’s not blue.” It was a very pale pink.

He laughed. “Good point. And wish me luck. Three girls all at once.”

“And two loving parents. Yup. Sounds like you’re going to have a beautiful family.” I kissed him on the cheek and said, “I love you, Kevin.”

“I love you too, Mom.”

There was only one thing I needed to do, book a ticket for next week and go home. But I still had no idea what I was going to tell Mikal when I saw him again.

That is if he wants to see me after I was so…distant.

There was only one way to find out. Be as bold and blunt with my words as I have been in the bedroom. It’s time to make my feelings known.
