“What?” My voice squeaks as I drop onto the bed.

“Don’t look so surprised. One drunken night changed my life forever. I had been wrestling with my feelings for you, wondering what they meant. We’ve been stationed and deployed together for almost twenty years.”

“You forgot the three years I spent in the sandbox with Reid.”

He chuckles, gripping my neck and pulling me toward him. I rest my forehead against his and close my eyes.

“It was then that I knew it was something more than just proximity. When I finally allowed myself to believe that I was in love with you.”

“Why did you wait to say anything?” I ask.

“Fear,” he whispers, lifting my chin.

Our eyes lock, his swirling with a combination of love and fear. I have never seen this side of Devon. He’s always hiding behind the walls he has erected around his heart, letting no one in other than Reid, me, and now Kelsey.

“You’re not afraid of anything.”

“No, I’m afraid of exactly two things: losing you and losing Kelsey. Nothing else matters if I have each of you in my life.”

“Well, I’m not going anywhere. I can promise you that.”

He shakes his head, a smile tugging at the corner of his mouth.

“You have everything anyone would look for in a partner to spend the rest of her life with.”

“That still doesn’t mean she will be okay with all of this.” He motions around the room.

“True, but we won’t know until we ask her. Like you said before, she needs to understand what she’s getting into. Sherié will make sure she has all the information about the club, but knowing our girl, she’ll have all the information she needs before stepping into the building.”

I can feel him harden as I grind down on him, the tip of his cock bumping at my puckered hole.

“Her birthday is in two days. This could be our last chance to claim her before her father runs her off for good.”

“Fine, you two win.”

I lean forward, brushing my lips against his, teasing his lips with my tongue.

“And we still wait.”

I groan loudly, climbing off his lap, but Devon pulls me onto the bed beside him.

“No pouting. Just remember…”

“The finish is worth the wait,” I say as I adjust my raging hard-on.

Two days.

Only two more days until we get the girl and I get my happy ending, both figuratively and literally.

KELSEY

It’s been two days. Two motherfucking days of no contact from Devon, Spencer, or Reid.I thought with it being my birthday, I’d have at least gotten a text from them, but still nothing.

Everything was going amazing between Reid and me until that fucking phone call from Spencer and Devon. He brushed it off, pouring his heart out to me and trying to convince me there was more between the three of us than just mutual attraction. And then nothing. Not a phone call, text message, or even a smoke signal letting me know what their plans are. You’d think that if you were desperately in love with a woman, you would at least send her a text message.

“Someone woke up on the wrong side of the bed,”Willow says, taking a seat on the other side of the table.
