I’m a civilian, or at least I will be in another fifteen minutes when Lieutenant Commander Mitchell stops singing my praises.

If he only knew.

I’m sure he’d be singing another tune if he knew the filthy things we plan on doing to his daughter the moment we step out of this building. Somehow, we’ve kept our rather unorthodox relationship under wraps. No one except Willow knows our level of obsession with Kelsey.

With her being only a short drive away, we spend almost every weekend locked in our room, hidden away from the world. But there’s something missing. We all feel it. The need to be out in the open, letting everyone know how much we cherish Kelsey. Every day, the desire to kiss her on the neck and call her mine in front of the entire wild grows stronger. I hate that we have to pretend to have a platonic relationship, but I’ve appeased myself by mentally repeating that it’s not forever.

It’s even easier when Kelsey is perfectly happy with the situation, wanting to ensure our last few months under her father’s command run smoothly. We were all against the idea of keeping our love for her and each other hidden, but she promised us she was fine with the situation. She spent a large amount of time on her knees convincing us she would never doubt our love for her before we relented.

“This concludes the retirement ceremony,” the master of ceremonies announces into the microphone, and everyone strides toward the stage, wanting to shake each of our hands.

“Fucking finally,” Reid swears under his breath before striding toward the waiting audience with Spencer and me hot on his heels.

Normally each of us would stand on the stage with smiles plastered on our faces, accepting everyone’s congratulations and heartfelt wishes, but right now the only thing on our minds is getting to our girl.

We haven’t seen her for weeks. Between her final exams and all the different appointments and training we had to attend before retirement, it was almost impossible to find time to see each other. We’ve been reduced to FaceTiming and sending teasing text messages to each other.

“Sweetheart,” Reid breathes, leaping off the end of the stage and wrapping her in his arms. “I missed you so much.”

Her legs find their way around his waist, their mouths seeking each other hungrily before locking together.Spencer jumps down off the stage a few moments later, gripping the end of her hair and tearing her mouth away from Reid.

“My turn,” he growls before turning her head toward him and taking her mouth with a groan.

I was worried there would be some jealousy between Spencer and me when it came to Kelsey, but there was no need. Spencer loves both of us just as fiercely, and we feel the same about him. The connection the three of us share differs slightly from the one we all share with Reid, but the four of us are a unit. A family.

“Couldn’t you have at least waited until I was finished?” Reid growls, nipping at her chin as Spencer probes her tongue with his mouth.

“What in the hell is going on?!” Lieutenant Commander Mitchell bellows from beside me as he leaps off the stage, pulling Spencer away from his daughter. “Get your filthy hand off my daughter, Gunny.”

“That’s Reid, Elias.” He smirks over her father’s shoulder before striding toward the stage and sitting her on the edge.

I kneel beside her.

“You’ve been a bad girl,” I whisper in her ear.

“I would say I’m sorry, but I’m not.” She smiles before leaning forward and taking my mouth in a searing kiss as everyone murmurs around the room.

Whispers about our odd relationship follow behind us as the door closes softly.

I pull back slightly, our eyes locked with each other as I cup her cheek in my hand. I search her eyes for any hint of regret at what’s happened today, but I see none. The only thing shining back at me is love and adoration.

“I’ll handle this,” I whisper, placing my hand on the edge of the stage and vaulting myself over it.

“No,” Kelsey says, wrapping her arms around my neck and pulling me back toward her. Her legs open wide enough for my hips to slide between them, the heat of her core resting against my back. “I need to do this myself.”

I nod, gripping her hand in mine and giving it a squeeze as our eyes meet, a look of determination on her face. I was worried this would be hard for her, but it was all for nothing. Our girl is done taking scraps of attention from her father.

“I love them,” she says with conviction, resting her chin on my shoulder. “All of them.”

“Y-you can’t b-be serious,” Elias sputters, stepping closer toward me and lowering his voice. “No daughter of mine…”

“Oh,nowyou remember you have a daughter,” Spencer cuts him off, stepping beside me and leaning his back against the stage. “You’ve pawned her off on anyone that would take her off your hands for years.”

“Whichweare thankful for,” Reid chimes in, bumping Spencer with his shoulder as he comes to a stop on my other side, his eyes locked on Kelsey the entire time. “Your blind ambition gave us the chance to find out what an amazing and intelligent woman she is.”

“You haveno rightto embarrass me like this, Kelsey! There are a million other ways you could have gotten my attention.”

“Everything has always been aboutyou, Dad! Never once did you think to ask me whatIwanted or howIfelt about your decisions.”
