“I’ve missed you too.” I pull back slightly and smile at him. “Where are Devon and Spencer?”

“Working on your birthday surprise.” Reid winks before placing me back on my feet and resting his hands on my lower back. “Our girl only turns twenty-one once.”

“Ourgirl?” Willow questions.

My head spins toward her, my eyes narrowing in her direction.

“Of course.” Reid doesn’t miss a beat as he squeezes my hip and heads into the house.

“See? I told you,” Willow whispers, grabbing her bag from the hook beside the door. “You two have fun. I’ll call you tomorrow and we can make plans for your birthday.”

“You can have her back on Saturday. Friday, she belongs to the three of us,” Reid says as he rounds the corner, heading into the living room.

My eyes widen in surprise.

“This must be some birthday they have planned for you if I can’t even spend it with you,” she says.

“Goodbye, Willow.” I give her a small shove, shaking my head as she laughs all the way to her car.

I love Willow, but I need to keep my wits about me. I’m planning on seducing Reid tonight, hoping it will lead to something more. What they have planned for my birthday is the least of my worries and may end up being nonexistent if I mess things up tonight.

“Sorry I got here so late, but I had a meeting I couldn’t reschedule.” Reid runs his hands through his hair before taking a seat on the couch, propping his feet up on the coffee table in front of it.

“No problem. I was thinking we could order pizza and watch a movie. I don’t feel like going to the diner tonight.”

“But I haven’t eaten there since you left for college,” Reid whines, making me giggle.

“Do you remember the first time we went there?” I smile, flopping down on the couch.

“Of course. It was a week before you left for college. I’d been begging Devon and Spencer to check out the place since it had just opened, but they kept coming up with excuses.”

“As soon as you three showed up on my doorstep, I demanded you take me there and let me have the biggest piece of pie I could stomach.”

“Instead of one large piece, you ate an entire pie, crying about how much you were going to miss us when you left for school.” Reid lets out a boisterous laugh. “In order to keep you from crying, we all pinkie-promised not to step foot in that place until you came home for a visit.”

My smile falls slightly as I think about how much time we’ve lost together. I may be desperately in love with them, but they were the only other people besides Willow that I ever felt really cared about what happened to me.

“Enough with the heavy.” I push up off the couch and head for the DVD stand, grabbing my two favorite movies. “Princess BrideorSixteen Candles?”

“As you wish.” Reid bows at the waist, sweeping his arms out to the side. “Who the hell still has DVDs, anyway?”

“I love my DVDs. Why buy something again when you already have it?” I stick my tongue out at him before turning and putting the movie on.

After hitting a few buttons and grabbing the remote, I take a seat back on the couch.

“I’ll place the order for the pizza.” Reid pulls out his phone. “Black olive and peppers, right?”

I nod, hitting the play button, and my throat clogs with emotions at the gesture. Even after not seeing each other for over a year, he still remembers what my favorite pizza toppings are. My dad can’t even bother to make my birthday a priority.

We watch the movie in relative silence until Westley goes tumbling down the hill.

“You’d make a great Dread Pirate Roberts,” I giggle, imagining Reid wearing a black mask to hide his face.

“You’re saying that because you want a handsome pirate to rescue you from the evil prince?” He looks at me from the corner of his eye as he tries desperately to pay attention to the movie. “Buttercup is pretty hot, though.”

I smack him in the arm for good measure, causing him to let out a boisterous laugh.

“You didn’t let me finish before you so brutally attacked me! I was going to say she has nothing on you.”
