“Look at me,” she says softly.

I return my eyes to her face, my heart pounding and my entire body throbbing with desire as she grasps me closer, and I thrust into her again, and again, and again.

Her walls clench around me, hard, in time to the rhythm of my thrusts. My breath comes in heavy pants, and I see a sheen of sweat break out all over her.

She’s beautiful. So beautiful. A goddess that fits me perfectly.

There’s no need for us to speak as the aching tension grows between us. I start to pulse inside her, send shockwaves through her that ripple out through her whole body and make her release a delayed moan after every tremor.

I can tell when she’s close, digging her small hands into my shoulders, pressing her thighs close against me as if she’s trying to pull me in even deeper—not that it would be possible. Our bodies are both slick with sweat as we move together, gyrating in unison, knowing we’re about to blow.

I give her one questioning look, raising an eyebrow, and she nods ever so slightly. She gives me one last adoring gaze before tilting her head back and letting out a scream of pleasure, her body shuddering and shaking beneath mine. In return, I let out a groan, releasing myself into her as I feel her muscles spasm and contract with a powerful orgasm.

Afterward, I lower myself gently onto her body, before rolling off next to her. Our bodies separate, and there’s a momentary gap that forms between us where I feel less than whole now that I’m no longer entwined with her.

“That was…” My voice, guttural, trails off.

“Not bad?” Lacy suggests sleepily.

I chuckle in reply.

“Something like that, yeah,” I finally say. “Arm pillow?” I ask, extending an arm for Lace to rest her head on.

“Thanks,” she says simply, nestling into me. I catch a whiff of that strawberry shampoo, and my heart skips a bit as I nuzzle my nose into her hair.

“Ben?” She asks sleepily.

“Yeah Lace?”

“This was an awesome night.”

“I’m glad you had fun.”

“Maybe I could live like this. In your world,” she says dreamily. Her voice is getting quieter and quieter, and her eyes are already closed. She’s clearly drifting off. I watch as her expression softens and her breathing becomes slower, more even.

“Good night, rock’n’roll goddess,” I say, giving her a gentle kiss on the head. I lay awake after Lacy drops off, finding comfort in the rise and fall of her gentle breathing.

I have to admit, I was surprised by how well Lacy blended into this LA world for the night. She fits into this world just as perfectly as she fits into the nook under my shoulder when she pillows her cheek on my chest.

Having Lacy around, I’ve realized how lonely my life has been up until now. She fills a gap that’s been there for years. She gets who I am and where I come from. She can look beyond the ‘rock star’ veneer—even though she loves to tease me about it.

And that’s something I’ve been missing. That’s something special.

And I’m determined to hang on to it.

Chapter Thirteen

Lacy

Iwakeupthenext morning to the faint strumming of a guitar and a familiar humming. I open my eyes slowly, wanting to savor the moment. There, at the foot of the bed, is Ben. He’s shirtless, holding one of his large acoustic guitars and quietly strumming on it, a look of deep concentration on his face. I lay still and watch him, unnoticed, not wanting to interrupt his creative moment. I smile to myself as he scribbles furiously in his notebook.

“Woke up to your creative muse whispering in your ear?” I finally ask.

He looks up, startled for a moment, before smiling gently.

“Looks like my creative muse is only waking up now,” he replies, preparing to put his guitar away.

“No, don’t let me stop you,” I say, gesturing to the guitar. “Your guitar playing may just be the perfect alarm clock.”
