“I love them,” she gushed. “In fact, I have one on right now.”

Eden rolled her eyes and placed the drink order on the tray. “Here you go, Cari. You better get them delivered before the ice melts.”Or before I get sick.

But Cari ignored her and twirled a strand of hair around her finger as she looked at Nash from lowered lids. “So if you’re not doing anything later, I get off at midnight.”

There was a moment when Nash actually looked like he was going to accept the offer, but then he turned to Eden and gave her a sexy smile that she had never seen before. “Sorry,” he said, “but I have other plans tonight.”

Cari looked between them with surprise. “Gosh, Eden, I’m sorry. I didn’t realize he was yours.”

It was strange, but just the thought of Nash Beaumont being hers made her weak in the knees. Of course, it wasn’t true. Nash wasn’t the type of man to belong to any woman. Especially an average bartender/sorta writer. But then why was he here? And why had he shown up at her apartment? And why had he given her two amazing orgasms?

Eden was still mulling over the questions when Cari picked up the tray and walked off. Nash’s smile immediately faded.

“So it really is me that makes you grumpy,” she said as she turned her attention to cutting up limes. Hopefully, she wouldn’t slice off a finger. It was hard to concentrate when being watched by his piercing eyes.

“I think it’s obvious that you do more to me than make me grumpy,” he said. Then before she could get over her shock, he changed the subject. “Why do you wear my brother’s collection?”

“What?”

“My brother’s clothing collection. You had on a pair of his sweatpants the other night.”

“Oh. They were from your brother’s collection? Unlike Cari, I don’t pay much attention to what I wear. I just buy whatever’s on sale.” She pulled a jar of maraschino cherries from the fridge. “Although she’s lying, you know. She doesn’t have on one of your new bras. She wears sports bras to work because they’re more comfortable.”

His brow knotted. “Are you saying that our bras aren’t comfortable?”

“They’re comfortable enough when you think that some guy is going to see your bra and you want them to think you wear sexy underwear all the time. But for everyday life, women prefer comfort and a neutral color that isn’t going to show through their white shirts. And your bras aren’t comfortable or neutral.”

His gaze lowered to her breasts, and damned if her nipples didn’t immediately tighten. “And you’ve worn a bra from our new collection?”

“No.” She turned away. “They’re too expensive. But I own a couple of your bras from past collections.”

“Mine?”

“To be honest, I don’t have a clue.”

He didn’t seem pleased by the news. “So you’re saying that price, comfort, and color are the major selling points of a bra?”

“I haven’t taken a poll or anything, but that’s how most of the women I know feel. And why are you so curious? Don’t you have that survey on your website that asks how women feel about your bras?”

“You’ve been on our website?”

She couldn’t keep the blush off her face. “I was a little curious after I discovered who you were.”

“And did you appease your curiosity?”

“About where you came from and how you ended up with a lingerie company? Yes. But it didn’t tell me a thing about the man. Your likes. Your dislikes… why you hire escorts.”

“I think I told you why I hire escorts.” His gaze lasered right through her. “And as for my likes and dislikes—I don’t like rainy days, chocolate chip cookies, and liars. I do like fishing, sweet tea, and running. And speaking of running, are you still training for the marathon?”

The liar thing had her taking a few seconds to answer. “Umm, yes. Although I’m a day behind on my daily goals.”

He smiled. Not a practiced smile like the one he had given Cari, but a soft smile that crinkled the corners of his eyes. “I’m assuming you were too tired to add your daily mile this morning.”

“I didn’t even run.” She sent him a sardonic look. “But don’t get a big head.”

“According to my father, I was born with a big head. And you must’ve been born with one even bigger if you think you can be ready to run a full marathon in a month’s time. You need to start with the half marathon, which is still going to be a major feat to accomplish.”

“How many miles is a half marathon?”
