“We'll tell you once we're all together,” Olex says.

I get smiles and waves from Grounders and human women alike as Grace leads me through the market. I see so many things I want to touch, and take home, but all I really want right now is to see my nephew. We go to a cavern that is in the closest tunnel, and Grace walks in without knocking on the door or announcing herself.

“I've brought you another daughter,” Grace happily exclaims.

A man, who very much looks like Linc, turns around with a smile on face.

“Keri,” he calls out confidently as he marches towards me. Like he had known me for years.

I'm prepared for the hug this time, realizing these people are huggers. This man raised Linc, along with Nicole. He's good. I know that already.

“Let my mate breathe, Father.” Linc chuckles.

“Oh, she's been stuck with you for weeks,” his father teases. “I’m sure we’re a breath of fresh air.”

“This is my father, Warzo.”

I smile at him as Linc begins to speak, “Everyone, since no one let me introduce my mate, this is Keri.”

Grace puts her finger to her chin. “Aren't you that girl who used to live on Burnett street?”

I roll my eyes at her. “I am the girl still waiting to meet her nephew.”

“He's sleeping,” Warzo tells us.

“I'll take you to him,” Grace states, linking our hands. “He'll wake up for his aunt.”

She begins leading me away, but then I hear Linc's murmured question.

“Father, where is Kayo?”

I pause, not only because I look at Linc and see the worry on his face, but because I feel, in some way, this has something to do with Leah.

Warzo peeks at both me and Grace, before speaking. “He's…gone.”

“And so is Leah,” Grace softly adds.

My head whips around as I exclaim, “What?”

She gives me a tight smile. “No one knows where they are, only that she's with Kayo.”

“How do they know that?” Linc asks through clenched teeth. I've never heard him sound so…angry.

“Video surveillance from when she left with him,” Warzo explains.

“But they're saying he kidnapped her,” Olex adds.

“Took her from where?” I question. “Because my house had no surveillance, so where was she?”

My heart is in my stomach and Linc looks over at me. I realize he must be able to sense the way I'm panicking inside. Where is my sister? How afraid is she right now? What does she think is happening? Has Kayo told her anything or is he treating this as their thirty-day period or something? And where the hell did that fucking, backstabbing president put her?

“Your leaders insist she was at a hospital for some treatment, but that doesn't line up with the rest of their story.”

I immediately shake my head. “They're lying. I don't know where she was but they're lying. God, this is all my fault.”

Linc is by my side in an instant, taking my hand and pulling me into a seat.

Warzo drops to a knee before me, so we're eye to eye. “Tell me what happened.”
