Harrison’s ex-wife had taken his still-beating heart from his chest and stomped on it.“Yeah.”He toed the ground.“It’s been a couple of years though, and I don’t know.She’s…interesting.I’m interested in talking to her and getting to know her.”

“You barely said three words to her.”

“This is new for me, all right?”Harrison gave Grant a sour look.“You didn’t date after your divorce forever.”

“Plus, you can’t get in more than three words when Bea’s around,” Grant said dryly. He chuckled, and Harrison joined in.

“She’s awesome, Grant. You’re lucky to have her.”

“I know,” Grant said.“I love her.I didn’t mean I didn’t.It’s just…she and Cass are best friends, and am I being an idiot if I say I’m a little worried about her moving here?”

“No,” Harrison said.“It’s a valid feeling.”

Grant shook his head.“A bridge to cross when I get to it.”He grinned at Harrison and clapped him on the shoulder.“Really, come by later. We’ll have drinks and dessert after dinner, sitting on the back deck, overlooking the water…” He swept his hand through the sky as if painting a picture.“Very romantic.”

Harrison shook his head, but his smile had appeared, and he couldn’t make it go away. His best friend had painted a mighty fine picture, and Harrison determined he absolutely would come back after his meeting tonight.

Maybe then he could get in more than three words and learn more about the stunning Cassandra Haslam.
