Cass had told him that exact thing after the disastrous evening that was supposed to be fancy and fun. He’d ended up going out with Lauren, who’d had a run-in with Blake, and the whole night had been a disaster.

Except for the part where he sat on Cass’s bed with her while she ate her chicken pot pie. She’d been in joggers and a tank top that kept slipping off one shoulder, and Harrison held onto that sexy image of her as he went down the aisle and off the plane.

He kept putting one foot in front of the other, and he eventually went past security and out into the main part of the airport.

Everything in his life grew brighter, then shone like diamonds, as he saw Cass rushing toward him.He smiled too, jogged the remaining distance between them, and swept her right up off her feet.

She laughed, but all Harrison could do was hold on.His emotions stormed through him, and he knew then that hehadto be with her.He set her on her feet, leaned down, and kissed her right there with everyone in the airport flowing around them.

“Mm,” he said, finally minding his manners.“I missed you so much.”He leaned his forehead against hers, glad when she didn’t try to put any distance between them at all.

He opened his eyes to find her looking at him.She grinned and said, “I’m so glad you’re here.”She sure looked happy, and Harrison tucked his hand in hers and faced the baggage claim area of the airport.

“I don’t have a bag,” he said.

“My girls are right over there.”She nodded to her right, and Harrison easily found Sariah. She was almost a mini-Cass, though she didn’t have the height. She stood next to her husband who did, also sandwiched by a black-haired girl wearing what appeared to be every shade of blue in her shorts and T-shirt—the latter of which looked like it had been made out of a fishing net.

Surprise filled him, because he hadn’t expected Jane to be so different. He’d seen pictures of her, of course, and she looked normal wearing hiking shorts and tank tops, boots and a backpack.

With her electric blue eye makeup, this young woman looked like she wanted to become part of the ocean the moment they made it to the beach.

“Hey, Harrison,” Robbie said, stepping forward to shake hands.Harrison smiled at him and said hello as they shook.

He grinned at Sariah, and said, “I heard you guys got the apartment.”

That cracked her icy exterior, and she melted right in front of him.“We did.”

“I’m so glad.”He stepped into her and kissed both of her cheeks lightly.“All moved in, or when is that happening?”

She exchanged a glance with Robbie and then her mother, and Harrison looked at Cass too.“Uh, tomorrow,” she said with a bright smile.“We’ll talk about it later.”She indicated Jane and said, “This is my other daughter, Jane.”

“Mama.”She rolled her eyes.“You said you wouldn’t say it like that.”

“Oops.”Cass pressed one palm to her forehead.“I’m sorry.”

Harrison grinned at Jane.“It’s great to meet you.”He moved into her and gave her a light hug, quickly stepping back to Cass’s side.

“Jane, this is my boyfriend, Harrison Tate.”Cass smiled at him, and he couldn’t help but return it.It was just so amazing to see her.To touch her.To stand beside her.

Pure tension filled the bubble surrounding them, and he cleared his throat.“Did you guys park, or…?”

“Yes.”Sariah turned and started toward one of the many doors leading into and out of the airport.“We’re in short-term parking, and we’ve been here forever.Let’s go before we get a ticket.”

With that, she marched away from Harrison, taking her twin with her.Robbie looked at Harrison with a quick smile and then scampered after his wife.

Harrison sighed, glad the initial introductions were over. But Jane hadn’t said anything to him at all.Not even ahelloor anice to meet you too.

Just…nothing.

“So they’re not giving in,” he murmured as he placed a kiss against Cass’s temple.

“If anything,” she said.“They’re doubling down.”

“But you’re listing the house.”

“Monday morning,” she said.“The photography team came to take pictures yesterday.”

And it had caused World War Haslam, as far as Harrison knew.Cass had called yesterday afternoon before he’d gotten off work, and she’d been weepy and angry at the same time as she told the story.
