Dominic walked away and muttered, “Keep pouting those fuckin’ lips and see how fast I’ll jump you next…”

Adela checked for Camilla’s reaction, but she’d probably missed Dominic’s remark, since she followed him and said to Adela, “I’ll go warm up by the fire.”

Adela turned her back on Jack before yanking her tank top over her head. After their run in with a few jungle residents, Camilla had no qualms about spending the night at the beach with six total strangers. Adela’s gaze went from the fire to the jungle as she weighed her options.

“Please stay,” Jack said, sensing her apprehension.

“Of course I’ll stay. I’m obviously not going out there on my own in the dark.”

She didn’t know why she snapped at Jack. It wasn’t his fault her catamaran sunk to the bottom of the ocean, or that Camilla and Adela washed up on a deserted island. And it most definitely wasn’t his fault that three of her friends were still missing.

That was all on her.

She felt his eyes burn into her back as she hopped into her jean shorts. She peered over her shoulder and caught him checking out her ass as she pulled her shorts over her globes. His heated stare made her stumble on the sand.

Adela didn’t know how to handle any of this. She couldn’t deny her instant attraction to the tall, dark, and very handsome stranger. And if they’d met under any other circumstances, she would have definitely tried to flirt with Jack.

With the emphasis ontrying, since it was a long running joke among her friends about how bad Adela was at flirting. Growing up on a sailboat, spending most of her time with her parents didn’t exactly help Adela blossom into a very sociable person.

Even living on campus for four years with four girls who almost instantly became her best friends didn’t help in that department. She’d mostly avoided frat parties and detested the well-known players who were only after one thing.

And whenever a normal, nice guy flirted with her during class, she never picked up on any hints they dropped much to the amusement of her friends.

She figured that heaps of women flocked to Jack in the normal world. He probably checked her out because Dominic had already staked his claim on Camilla.

“Take a picture. It’ll last longer,” she said with a huff, trying to hide her inner turmoil to his blatant interest.

“Sorry, I didn’t mean to stare. You’re safe with us, I promise.” His honest green eyes made him even more irresistible.

“I’ll hold you to that.”

She slipped her feet into her flip-flops and walked away before he would see through her façade of indifference.

Jack and his friends showing up would not derail her. She had already let her friends down once. She would do everything in her power to find Raven, Liv and Hailey—even if it meant keeping her distance from Jack.

CHAPTER SIX

Jack satdown in the semicircle around the fire, purposely leaving a wide enough spot open between Dominic and him where Adela and Camilla could sit.

“Are you girls hungry?” Gabriel handed Adela the jar with green olives that Zane had found in his bag.

Adela accepted the jar while sitting down in the sand next to Jack. “Um, thanks, that’s so kind.”

She held the jar in front of Jack, but he shook his head. “I’m good, thanks.”

“We’re sorry for taking over your spot and scaring you. I’m Gabriel, by the way, and this is my brother, Rodrigo.”

Adela smiled at the twins. “Hi. I’m Adela and this is my friend Camilla.”

“I’m Reed,” his friend said with a nonchalant wave. Jack wondered if the girls were football fans and if they would recognize the star quarterback. Probably not, since Zane could easily draw their attention away from Reed.

“And I’m Zane.”

“Hi, Zane…” Camilla and Adela said in unison, a little too enthusiastic for Dominic’s liking since Jack heard him groan. Jack laughed since the girls’ reaction to the six foot eight tattooed construction worker wasn’t anything new.

Zane’s looks never failed him, which made him so obnoxiously cocky.

Camilla accepted the jar with olives from Adela but swiftly passed it along to Dominic sitting next to her.
