“Not your taste?” Dominic asked.
“Nah. It’s too salty and will only make me thirsty. Ah, speaking of thirst... Before we made this fire, Adela and I found a lake today,” Camilla said with a proud smile.
Jack instantly leaned forward. “A lake?”
Adela nodded. “Yeah, it’s an hour through the jungle.”
“A fresh-water lake?” Rodrigo asked.
“Yes, awesome, isn’t it?” Camilla said.
The guys erupted in hoots and hollers, since the main worry after finding land was to find water.
Adela combed her fingers through her silky, long brown hair and he knew she felt him watching when she stole a glimpse at him over her shoulder. With Adela sitting next to him in front of the fire, he could finally have a better look at the girl who almost knocked him on his head with a stick earlier.
Her long lashes rested above sweet little freckles that dusted her high cheekbones. Her naturally bronzed skin smelled amazing, even though he was sure she should smell like lake water and sweat after the day she’d had.
He’d seen her strip down to her bikini when she’d threatened to follow her friend into the ocean. It shamed him she caught him staring at her earlier, but he simply couldn’t tear his eyes from her sexy, toned midriff stuck in between her luscious curves.
If Gabriel were to ask Jack how his dream girl would look like, he would present him Adela since she ticked all of his boxes.
Adela bit her bottom lip in a cute way before she diverted her dark brown eyes again. He desperately thought of something to say so she would pin those gorgeous eyes on him instead of his friends who puffed out their chests, talking over each other in order to get noticed by Adela and her friend.
The idiots were all acting like fucking sixteen-year-olds. Not that Jack was behaving any better since he was tongue-tied by the girl he instantly crushed on after sharing just one look in the dark.
Before he could open his mouth, she already shot another glance at him and the hairs on the back of his neck rose. His eyes tracked her plump lips opening slightly, before she licked her lips. He wanted to nibble her bottom lip while he would push his cock inside of her as he made her all his.

“What?” she whispered back.
He heard the others laugh and talk around them, but he didn’t give a shit while Adela’s eyes still locked on his. He didn’t know what she searched for in his gaze, but he wondered if she also felt their bizarre pull.
“Adela, is it true that you maneuvered your catamaran to this island in that storm?” Reed asked.
Adela blinked her brown eyes before she tore them away from Jack. “We just had luck on our side…”
Camilla placed her arm over Adela’s shoulder and pulled her in. “She’s being way too modest. Adela saved my life.”
Adela looked down at her feet in the sand. “That may be, but we’re still missing Raven, Liv and Hailey…”
His heart squeezed at the sorrow in her voice. He could relate to her guilt. He carried heaps of that himself.
“You were with five girls?” Reed asked.
“Yes,” Camilla said.
Jack couldn’t imagine being separated from his friends during that brutal storm. He understood that despite finding land and fresh water, Adela and Camilla were still on another level of survival mode, since their friends were still out there, hopefully alive.
Jack heard Adela exhale a shaky breath. “Camilla and I washed up on the other side of the island. We went through the jungle in search of our friends, but the lake is all we found today. We saw mountains on the south side of the island, so we figured that maybe they would be on this side.”
“That’s when we found this beach and started this fire,” Camilla added.
Adela nudged her chin toward the flames. “It looks awesome, by the way. How did you guys control the fire?”
“Luckily, we have a firefighter in our midst knowing what to do,” Gabriel said and pointed his thumb in Jack’s direction.
Camilla laughed while she playfully bumped her shoulder against Adela. “Ah! So that’s their secret! Now we don’t have to feel as bad as we did.”
