His heart broke for her. How could such a gorgeous girl feel unseen? He was sure that if he hadn’t staked his claim from the moment he’d laid eyes on her, that everyone except Dominic would be all over her like flies.
“Shit, Adi. I know we’ve just met, but you intrigue me. I can’t believe how someone as beautiful and as kind as you doesn’t have more self-confidence.”
“Thank you for saying that.”
“I’m not just saying that to make you feel better. And I’m also not sweet talking you just because you’re hot and I want to do extremely dirty things to you.”
He pressed his lips to hers, needing to soak up as much of the joyous giggle escaping from her lips as he could.
After their heated kiss, she said, “I’m not sure if I can keep up with you. I’m not that experienced…”
“That’s okay. I would never want you to feel pressured, okay? How about taking a swim for a while before we head back?”
“Okay…”
He let go of her and swam away. Jack dove underwater, thinking how stupid he’d been by not taking things slow. He came up for air, his eyes immediately searching for her in the lake. His gaze fell on her as she waded toward where her clothes were strewn on the rocks.
“Are you going out of the water?”
She turned around, her sad face hitting him straight in the gut.
“What’s wrong?” he asked before he swam closer.
“N-nothing.”
His feet rested on the sandy bottom of the lake in front of her, and he liked how she needed to tilt her head to look him in the eye. He engulfed her with his arms, pulling her close while walking them backwards to the deep.
She wrapped her arms around his neck as she willingly let him lead her through the water.
“What’s wrong?” he asked.
“Thisthingbetween us. It’s only there because we’re on this island. When we finally get away from here, you’ll be on your merry way and I…”
She shrugged, but he could fill in the blanks for her. It scared her that this was just some outlet for him and that only Adela had her heart on the line.
“I don’t know if it’s because we’ve both been through something traumatic as being stranded on a deserted island, or maybe it’s because the idea of being stuck forever on this island with you actually doesn’t sound too bad to me...”
He laughed when her eyes widened in shock.
“I’ve never felt this buzz inside of me by just looking into a girl’s eyes. I want to talk about your dreams and hear about your life growing up on a sailboat. I want to get to know you on a level no one ever did.”
She gave him a sweet smile before she softly said, “I would like that. I really like you, but I feel like you’re way out of my league and—”
He couldn’t listen to her talking herself down any longer. He needed to rectify this immediately and wrapped her damp hair in a ponytail around his fist.
Her eyes grew big as he leaned in. “Wrap your legs around me, Adi. Let me help you.”
“H-Help me?”
“Let me show you that you are all I need.”
“Eh…”
“Did you ever have a guy finger you?”
He hated the idea of another guy’s hands on his pretty girl, but he had to ask to see what kind of experience she had until now.
