The watermelon drink had to be for Caitlin—it was her favorite, but the Screwdriver was a bit out of character for her sister. Shequirked a brow at Kayla, who giggled in return.

“The Screwdriver is for Fianna. I’ll have a white wine, please.” Kayla said while glancing around the bar. “Is Brennan out?”

Errin had tried to steer clear of Brennan since their almost chat the other night.

“Yeah. He went over to Kate and Donovan’s earlier. Said he was coming back soon. Did you need him for something?” she asked.

“No. Just wondering how things are between you two,” Kayla asked.

“Everything is just hunky-dory, sis,” Errin said as she stabbed a slice of orange on the brim of the Screwdriver’s glass.

“Bunny…”

“No. I mean it. He wanted to keep things professional between us, so I’ll keep my distance, all right,” Errin said while stretching to grab some ice cubes from the ice bucket.

“Did you tell him about the auditions yet?” Kayla asked.

“No,” Errin said as she mixed vodka with orange juice.

“Chickenshit.”

Errin huffed a breath and groaned. “I know.”

“Theresa called today, said there’s this one audition where the director called her twice now and instructed her I needed to come. It’s Harold, the director I’ve worked with before. A total jerk, but apparently he sees me for the leading female dancer. Theresa said it’s practically mine for the taking.”

“That’s awesome, Bunny. I’ll miss you so much.” Kayla gave her a watery smile as she brought her wineglass to her lips. Errin patted her other hand on top of the bar and gave her a sister a loving wink.

“Well, it seems like a sure bet. But anything can happen in the world of dancing. He might go back on his word the moment he sees me waddling through the door.” Errin said, making Kayla scoff.

“Shut up.” Kayla said.

Her sister set down her glass. “When would you start there, Bunny?”

Errin kept her eyes on the bar and said, “Next week. The production already started, but the leading dancer broke her ankle. The director said he’s not happy with his current understudy.”

“So soon! You have to tell him, Bunny,” Kayla said.

“I tried yesterday, but he wouldn’t let me talk to him. He acted like a real jerk. Wouldn’t look me in the eye and basically dismissed me. But I’ll tell my boss soon, sis. I promise.”

“Boss? So you’ve decided to never speak of his name ever again?” Kayla smirked over the rim of her glass, peering with her hazel eyes at Errin’s reaction.

“Yep,” Errin said while preparing the last drink for her sister. She fetched two straws from the container and placed them in each drink. “So, all done.”

“Thanks. Put them on my tab, will you?” Kayla said with a grin.

“Of course. Planning to goall out tonight?” Errin smiled while stacking up empty glasses.

“Dunc is out with Declan and Ronan, leaving the coast clear for Fianna to come to Lucky tonight since Ro is somewhere else. Are you and Emmy still joining us?” Kayla’s mischievous grin was contagious.

“Yeah. I’ll be done in an hour. You think you’ll still be standing by then?”

Kayla snorted. “Ha! I’m no lightweight like you, sis. You just try to keep up with us, and then we’ll talk somemore.”

She winked as she took the three glasses between her two hands, sloshing the drinks all over her hands but continuing to their table across the pub.

“Hey, can I have a beer? And your phone number while you’re at it?” a chuckling voice said from across the bar.

She wasn’t aware of the man filling Kayla’s spot at the bar, but now he’d gained her attention, he definitely deserved her undivided attention.
