A marker from Zeus was so rare that pride swelled Ronan’s chest. Even though he wouldn’t fight for them anymore, this showed they still respected him.

“Come, let’s get us some beers,” Zeus said as he walked out into the bar.

Turtle sat on a barstool, but the moment his eyes fell on Ronan walking in, he flagged him over. “Ro! I’ve been meaning to talk with you ‘bout somethin’.”

Zeus arched a brow at Ronan, not knowing what this old timer could want with Ronan.

“What’s up?”

Turtle hooked his leathered arm around Zion’s neck. “It’s about my man Zion here.”

Ronan knew all about Zion being bi-sexual and enjoying three-ways out in the open of this clubhouse with men and women. Even though Ronan was free spirited, that was not his style. He eyed Zion wearily, but the man also didn’t seem to have a clue what Turtle wanted from them.

“Talked to your girls that day we visited you in the hospital…” Turtle said.

“And?”

He’d heard from Gwenn and Fianna’s run in with a few of the members at some diner. From what he’d heard from Gwenn, nothing unusual had happened. He couldn’t imagine his Red talking dirty to any biker, as they’d probably scared her half to death.

His partner Gwenn, on the other hand…

He chuckled, and a weight lifted off his chest. “Ah, you’ve talked to Gwenn, eh?”

Turtle was a harmless seventy-year-old biker who’d done and seen everything and now simply enjoyed whatever’s left of his time. But the fact he’d included Zion in this conversation and several other members were listening in didn’t sit right with Ronan.

“Zion’s been daydreaming about her dirty mouth ever since.”

“Shut up, Turtle.” Zion rolled his eyes and said, “It’s the other way around. Ever since that pretty thing talked about his eight foot schlong, Turtle’s done nothing but talkin’ ‘bout her.”

Several guys surrounding them busted out laughing.

“Who’s Gwenn?” Zeus said.

“My partner. She’s also my woman’s sister and one of my best friends. So you guys better watch your mouths, okay?”

Turtle waved a hand in the air and said, “Brass Balls doesn’t need you to defend her honor, Ro. She’s man enough to handle us lot.”

Ronan knew that weirdly enough, Gwenn would have liked the old man’s ‘compliment’ of being man enough. His girl, Fianna, on the other hand, would have cussed the man out for living under a rock and missing several waves of feminism.

Ronan laughed. “Brass Balls? You gave her a road name already, huh?”

The name suited her. He couldn’t wait to call her Brass Balls to her face. He wondered if she would go for his jaw or his gut to sucker punch him.

Fianna

“Everybody quiet! He’s coming!” someone shouted into the dark of the Lucky Irish pub.

Fianna held her breath, and a nervous flutter skittered through her body. She couldn’t wait to see Pops’ face when he would enter the pub and see his entire family present. Even the Mills’es from Winter Peaks, Colorado, had flew in to surprise Pops for his eightieth birthday four months before his actual birthday because otherwise, Pops would see them coming from a mile away.

A ray of light from the street lantern entered the pub as someone opened the door. She heard Pops’ grumble, “Enough with this nonsense already. Brennan, tell them to turn the lights on and show themselves. I’m not leavin’ this world by a heart attack because they scared this old man for their amusement.”

Several people in the pub snickered and when the lights flickered on, she glanced up at Ronan, who smiled at her. The front door to the pub fully opened, and it was Pops who shouted, “Okay, I’m here! Don’t know why we couldn’t have a whiskey on my actual birthday four months from now. I guess yous needed a party now or somethin’? Yer all a bunch of nutters!”

Pops’ stern look cracked when his green eyes fluttered around the room. His daughter Shauni stood next to Ronan’s dad, Sean Jr. and his other three sons, Niall, Frank and Tom, stood on the other side of the room. In between them, they had positioned every single of Pops’ twenty-seven grandchildren and three great grandchildren.

It was his first great grandson Tommy who shouted, “Surprise!” while running up to Pops.
