“We’ll be fine, Ker. No problem. Go on and have a good shift. Stay safe.”

Kera kissed her cheek and when she got into the hallway, she talked to Gwenn for a moment before she closed the front door behind her.

Gwenn walked back in and headed straight for the refrigerator.

“I’m not taking no for an answer, Fi. We’re going to drink this bottle,” Gwenn held her finding up in the air, “And then Ro is picking you up. He’s only having a meeting with Don and then he’ll pick you up.”

“Did you set him up to do that?” Fianna said around a huff.

“I love you, too, sis,” Gwenn said and winked.

Gwenn poured them both a glass and, after taking a hefty gulp, she wiped her mouth with the back of her hand.

Fianna rolled her eyes. “At least you didn’t burp…”

Gwenn grabbed her long strands and fastened her hair into a ponytail. “Sorry, sis. I guess doing a tour in the desert with a bunch of macho assholes didn’t help my sense of etiquette?”

Fianna sighed. She couldn’t imagine what her sister must have been through. She felt ashamed for snapping at her when she should have directed her anger at Ronan.

He was the one with nightly meetings with his brother about finding the man that had stabbed him months ago. Ronan was the one who’d said that everything was fine, even though she knew the man for decades and knew he was lying.

Everything’s not fine. She felt it in her gut.

Fianna sighed. “Sorry. I’m being awful. It’s your home and you can—”

“Drink, burp and flick my clit all I want?”

Fianna couldn’t help but laugh. “What in the world?”

“How else do you think I’m getting rid of all my pent up anger?”

Gwenn winked before swallowing down the rest of her wine. She topped their glasses off and settled the bottle back into the fridge.

“Gwenn… I really don’t want to hear about you tickling your…”

“Oh-kay… So what did you want to talk about then?”

Fianna set her glass back on the coffee table and said, “Ro. Obviously. Do you know what’s going on?”

Her sister cocked her head while searching Fianna’s eyes for an answer Fianna didn’t know the question to. After a beat, Gwenn finally said, “Ro is protecting the ones he loves. He always has and always will. In order to do that, he has to talk to Donovan. That’s all I can say at the moment.”

Fianna jutted her chin and said, “So you do know what’s going on!”

“Not until a few minutes ago. And if I could tell you anything, I would. But it’s not for me to share. Sorry, sis.”

Fianna huffed. She thought of some other topic to kill the time.

“This weekend we’ll meet up with our long-lost half-siblings… yaaay,” Fianna said with a sarcastic cheer.

“Yeah, after meeting some of the guys of the MC, I’m excited to meet our brother Devlin.”

Fianna snorted. Only her sister could get excited about meeting another member of that motorcycle gang.

“Since when do you consider Devlin your brother?”

“Well, the man is our brother, isn’t he?” Gwenn said with a shrug.

“We might share some DNA, but I don’t consider him family, Gwenn. He’s Rob Walker’s son. We all know how Rob treated us. I’m sure his son isn’t any different.”
