“We’ve met years ago. And that’s all you’re getting out of me, so can we talk about Devlin and Teagan already?”

His heart skipped a beat at hearing her name. He would let them discuss this topic without input from him. It would only make things worse if he gave them any ammunition.

Catriona nodded. “Yes. Cute girl. And so different from all those skanks he usually—”

He got up from his seat and marched into the kitchen, willing his twitching dick to go down. Fuck. Even the mere mention of Teagan made him hard.

He ripped the door to the fridge open, purposely ignoring his two annoying roommates entering the kitchen hot on his trail. Unable to escape their knowing gazes almost made him regret asking them to move in with him.

“Okay, whatever it is, just come out and say it,” Devlin said as he turned and placed three new beers on the kitchen bar. He’d seen the glance Kieran and Catriona shared as they sat down at the opposite side of the bar. He wondered what was so special about him not willing to talk about some chick.

“Just wonderin’ somethin’…” Kieran said.

Devlin leaned upon his elbows on his end of the kitchen bar. “Okay. Just spit it out.”

“You’re obviously hung up on this girl. You’ve seen her—what? One time? And you can’t even listen to us talk about her,” Kieran said.

“I’m not hung up about anyone. I’m still the same man, Kieran.”

Devlin had done everything possible to forget Teagan. Even though he would never stick to one woman—Teagan wasn’t made for club life, anyway.

They would sniff out Teagan’s innocence in a crowd, like a pack of hungry wolves. He’d done it the second she’d walked up to his table. One look at that awful pinkish flowy dress and he knew enough. She probably had no clue how the sunlight behind her turned the thing see-through.

He’d pictured her silhouette whenever he fucked a sweetbutt at his room in the clubhouse. It had been weeks. And he still thought about fucking her. About owning her.

He swallowed three gulps from his beer and threw the cap into the trash. Just how long would it take for him to get this under control? He wasn’t built for her sweetness.

Devlin had sworn long time ago he would never be like his father. Although he might take after him for always getting his dick wet; unlike his father, Devlin was honest with every girl he met. He would never play house with some chick and let her think she was the only one for him, only to screw her over.

“You know… Normally, you would have told me to shut up already. Teagan—” Catriona’s eyebrows shot to her hairline at his growl.

He wasn’t a talkative person by nature. His behavior must’ve been bad for Catriona to notice his hang up.

And here he was, thinking he had all of his ducks in a row. He completely ignored his fucked-up parents; had dinner with his grandparents once every week, and he was close with most of his cousins and with all of his siblings.

The club had been through a lot these past months. There was a lot of internal turmoil, as the younger generation in the club had recently taken over. Devlin got appointed as the new manager of the Pink Flower, the club’s strip club.

The place had been an absolute dump when he took over. Dancers were as high as a kite up on stage, stumbling through sloppy routines. A few of the bartenders dealt on the side, bringing in a bad crowd.

In these past months, he’d redecorated the bar and the three stages in the center of the room. Next up were the five private rooms in the back and the dressing rooms. He just had to find some talented dancers who would give the new Pink Flower a shot. It hadn’t been easy to turn the tide for the strip club. But he wasn’t one to give up.

“It’s okay, Dev. I understand,” his brother Kieran said. Devlin thought about what his brother had said earlier. About knowing Teagan’s sister Emmy from years ago. Devlin wondered what their story was, but it would be hypocritical of him to ask Kieran to share his story since he couldn’t even bring himself to share about the weird feeling he got every time his mind meandered back to Teagan.

“I saw the way you two stared at each other. But instead of making a move for this sweet and gorgeous girl, you’re running as fast as you can in the opposite direction,” Catriona said.

She saw right through his act. Teagan had affected him in ways he never held possible. And he couldn’t figure out why. Of course, she was gorgeous. A bit short for his liking, but damn… her modest but natural curves called out to him almost as hard as her wide, dark brown eyes. There was something innocent yet naughty about her that drove him absolutely insane.

She had blushed when she’d first met his eyes that sunny day at the farm. But when they were alone, talking about stupid pigs, there was a fire in her he’d admired. He didn’t scare her. Even jumped his back while he held a gun in his hand. Thoughts about her tits rubbing against his back as she held on to him made him clear his throat.

He wouldn’t be the one responsible for dimming that spectacular twinkle in her eyes.

He wasn’t made for one woman. And she definitely deserved nothing less than a guy who would give her a life like she led at the farm: calm and wholesome. She belonged with a good guy who would give her all the boars, swine and hogs she liked. Not a guy who couldn’t stop acting like a pig.
