As the phone started to ring, I hoped I was doing the right thing. But after it rang a few more times my nerves took over. What if he wasn’t going to pick up, maybe he’d think it was weird I called since he was the one to usually instigate our talks. I quickly hung up and tossed my phone on my bed.

Just as I started out my bedroom door, the phone went off. “Mr. Panty Melter calling,” it screeched over and over again. Nobody was around but my face still flamed fire red with embarrassment anyways. I rushed back quickly, plopping on the bed, and grabbed it as fast as I could.

“Hello,” I answered, panting heavily into the phone. Not my finest greeting by far since I probably sounded like a phone sex operator that smoked one too many packs of cigarettes a day.

“Hey, Sunshine, do I dare ask why you're so out of breath?” Gyth’s deep southern drawl asked.

I didn’t know what to say, so I sat silent and Gyth laughed low into the phone, living up to his name I had given him, because my panties were definitely about to melt right off.

“Why did you hang up before I could answer, darlin’? Does it have anything to do with why you're so out of breath?”

“For your information, I was walking out of the room and my phone rang, so I ran for it. Sue me, I’m out of shape, but that’s the only reason I’m out of breath,” I told him with exasperation in my voice at his questions.

“Let’s get something straight, babe, you are not out of shape, and your body is perfect.”

“Pfff.” He was wrong, my parents had told me enough times about all the things I needed to fix and watch regarding my body, looks, and behavior. “Try telling my parents that. I am an Abbott after all,” I mumbled.

“Again, not liking your fucked up parents at all, Sunshine,” he growled.

The subject needed to be changed. As much as I liked how he wanted to protect and shield me, he sounded seriously pissed. So I went on to tell him about what we had planned for the evening, and how Embry was coming for breakfast. I hadn’t heard anything for a while on Gyth’s end and thought he had hung up.

“Gyth, are you still there?”

“Yeah, I’m here. I was just a little distracted.”

“Oh sorry, you were probably busy and I was just rattling on,” I said, feeling a little silly.

“Baby, I was still stuck on you being out of breath, and all the ways I could make that happen for you that may be more enjoyable. It’s fucking with my head.”

Stunned at the words that just came out of his mouth, I sputtered for a minute before finally speaking.

“Gyth Alan Elliott, did you just really say that to me?” I may be freaking out, but I was also changing my undies before I left the room too.

My question was met with silence and I wasn’t sure why. His full name came flying from my mouth, but he’d told me when he’d stayed over.Only one way to find out.

“Hey,” I started. “Are you upset I called you by your full name?

“It’s nothing like that, it just brought back memories of my mom when she used to do it, and I got lost thinking about her for a minute. She might have said it when she was scolding me or correcting my behavior, but I would give anything to hear her still doing it. I miss her.” His voice was filled with pain and sorrow, and it killed me to hear.

“I’m sorry, I shouldn’t have said it,” I whispered, full of regret that I’d hurt him.

“Babe, it’s okay. It just caught me off guard for a minute, but I like my name flowing from your beautiful lips, even if I can’t see them right now. I can picture them.” His tone was lighter and sexy again.

God, I loved listening to him talk. It was sexy as hell and always made me get butterflies in my tummy.

“You can make it up to me if you want?” he went on to ask before I’d responded. And deciding to go with it, I used my best flirty voice and answered him.

“Yeah, and how would I possibly do that?”

“Well for starters you could go out with me next weekend on a real date, and second maybe invite me over for breakfast in the morning too. What do you say?”

Since I wanted both, I wasn’t going to say no or play games.

“I say yes to both.”

“Good to hear, I will see you in the morning, Sunshine. Have fun with the girls and sweet dreams,” he said before hanging up without me even replying.

Guess he wanted to have the last words, and they were damn good ones. They never left my mind all night.
