The guys and I decided to hit a pub by the shop we had just left and it seemed that the girls had the same idea. Standing, I waved over to Summer and caught her eyes. The smile she graced me with letting me know she was happy to see me, caused my cock to stir to life.

As they made their way over to the wooden table in the corner we were sitting at, Kace quickly confiscated another table and pushed it against ours, then snagged extra chairs, making room for everyone.

Braxton got up and grabbed Jurnee, as I did Summer, both of us happy to see our women. Kace pulled out a chair for Alley and I caught the look on Landon’s face as he did so. There was history there, but neither of them would talk about it. Hopefully, when it all finally came to light, Braxton didn’t lose his shit with his friend Landon, since he’d be protective of Alley. She was his baby sister and he had always taken his role as big brother very seriously.

Once everyone was settled in again, we all ordered our food and drinks. It had been perfect timing. The guys and I had just got there and had found a table when the girls showed up. We all chatted as we waited to be served and joked with one another, having a great time. Then the food arrived and we all dug in.

Any day that I could spend with Summer seemed to be better than the ones when we were apart. We spent a lot of time together now, but I was itching for there never to be a day where I couldn’t see her beautiful face and just talk to her. Did she feel the same way at all?

Laughter rang out around the table, but I missed what was said while I was thinking of my girl that sat right next to me. “Hey, Big Guy, penny for your thoughts?” Summer asked, placing her small palm on my upper arm and leaning in.

“I was just thinking how glad I was that you showed up for lunch and what a lucky bastard that made me.” I would save the rest of what I was thinking for later.

Summer’s big, bright smile that was etched on her face as she took in my words was just another thing I loved to make happen and see day in and day out.

“That’s sweet,” she replied. “Did you guys have a good bonding experience today? It was nice to see my brother with you,” she added.

“Well Braxton called in your brother for help since he would know what he was doing and it made things a hell of a lot easier. We got done in a lot less time than it would have taken without him. And it was nice to have him around more too.”

“So you got something to wear to the party then? Do I get a sneak preview so I don’t lose my shit when I see you all dressed to the nines?” She gave me a hopeful look.

“You’re going to have to wait, babe.” The pout on her perfect, pink, rose-colored lips was fucking cute as hell.

Sliding my hand over the top of her jean-covered thigh, I leaned in close to her and spoke softly so only she could hear me. “What’s in the bag, Sunshine?”

She turned her head to face me and our lips were mere inches apart, her scent penetrating my nostrils. God, how the smell of her got me.

“It’s my dress for our date and a little something else,” she whispered for my ears only.

“Will I like this something else?” I asked her, seductively.

“You are gonna love it,” she flirted back. “I bought it all thinking of you.”

A strangled groan filtered through my lips. “Then I can’t wait to see you in the dress and out of it,” I told her, as I leaned in and kissed her lips.

“Get a room,” Kace said loudly, and Summer and I broke apart.

“Dude, don’t make me kick your ass,” I said to him. Chuckles went around the table and then we all went back to finishing our lunch and spending time with great people.

Chapter Thirty-Eight

Gyth

“Fuck me.”

Shit, I didn’t mean to say that out loud, but seeing Summer walk out into her living room, dressed as she was, almost caused me to have a heart attack. The dress she was wearing made me think of the country songSpeechless,by Dan + Shay, and the lyrics of the song flitted through my head.

Because I was left speechless for a moment and as the song mentioned she was my weakness, but in a damn good way and she could make me nervous like I was now. I prided myself on being a rock, steady and calm, but Summer could change that in a heartbeat just by walking into the room as she had then.

“We are not at that portion of the evening yet, Big Guy,” she taunted.

And she was going to be the absolute death of me, as I’d told her before because if she kept saying things like that, I knew exactly where we would end up.

And it wasn’t at the damn country club.

“Baby, you keep that mouth running that way, and the only place you will find yourself is flat on your back in my bed after I slowly undress that beautiful body of yours.” I was overheating just looking at her in the red, spaghetti strap gown that hugged every curve of her gorgeous body. And those fuck-me heels had a tent growing in my damn slacks.

Alley made gagging sounds from where she sat on the sofa, watching the exchange. “Oh puke, get your asses out of here so I can enjoy my evening and get some writing done.”
