Jurnee jumped in and told her daughter it was something only Auntie Summer and Uncle Gyth could see since they were getting married. Obviously, she knew what was in the box.

“Let’s eat!” Braxton boomed to get the attention away from Kace’s crazy gifts.

Everyone headed to the table, but Gyth grabbed Kace’s arm dragging him back as he started to walk away. “You buy my soon-to-be wife, sexy undies again, and I will kick your ass.”

“Make them last then, buddy,” Kace teased and walked off toward the table stacked with food.

Then my brother Landon walked up. “I’m happy for you sis. I approve of this guy here,” he said, pointing at Gyth. “Besides, if I hadn’t given him my blessing, he would have most likely kicked my ass and done it anyway,” he added, smiling. “Take good care of her,” he said, looking Gyth in the eye.

I was always amazed that my feelings could grow more and more for this man beside me. “You asked my brother for his approval?” I asked, even though I already knew the answer, so I just continued not waiting for a response. “You are the best,” I whispered.

“It was the right thing to do. He is the one that took care of you all your life and watched out for you. Now it is my job,” he replied.

Wrapping his arms around me, Gyth hugged me close, and Ash let out a bark. “I think she is jealous,” I said, squatting down and giving her a snuggle too.

“I could use some food,” I told Gyth as I stood back up.

“Then it’s time to feed my lady,” he replied, grabbing my hand and walking us toward where everyone was making plates.

When I took in the contents of the buffet, I did a double-take. Looking at each dish, I realized there was a theme.

Bacon.

No wonder I smelled bacon. There was bacon-wrapped pineapple, chicken bacon ranch burritos, maple bacon little smokies, bacon zucchini fries, and cheesy bacon onion dip with bread for dipping. But to top it off, there were bacon maple bars, specially bought from Voodoo Doughnuts.

I was in heaven, but pretty soon I might be sick because I planned on having some of it all.

“I can’t believe you did this for me,” I told Gyth as I pointed at all the bacon-covered food, which I knew he adored too.

“I will do anything for you, Sunshine.” Placing a kiss on my lips, he leaned in. “And I am going to be doing a whole lot to you later tonight for sure.”

“Looking forward to it,” I whispered back. Gyth had been careful with me over the last two weeks and I was glad the wait was over.

I needed him to make love to me.

We ate, talked, and laughed, all having an awesome night together. A while later, Alley, Jurnee, and I were standing together and they were gushing over my ring and about how Gyth planned this whole thing, but with just a little help from them. I finally understood why I thought everyone was crazy these last few weeks, but it was worth me being all paranoid when I was going to marry my soulmate, even if some would think we were an unlikely duo.

Gyth was perfect for me in every way.

“I am so happy for you,” Jurnee said. “Any idea where and when you want to get married?”

Scrunching my face a little as I thought about her question, I finally said, “I would love to do it here like you and Braxton did if that is at all possible?” The scenery and their place was perfect and a gorgeous place to tie the knot.

“Of course you can,” Jurnee replied.

Alley chimed in too. “It is becoming a tradition. I am thrilled for you, girl.” She breathed in and out, working to control those damn emotions she tried to keep held back all the time.

“It is a tradition I can have because of you,” I said to Alley, what I was feeling as clear as the night's sky above us.

“Oh stop, I wasn’t going to let some dickhead hurt my best friend. Nobody harasses you and gets away with it and they can’t harass me either.”

I looked at Jurnee and she looked as clueless as I did, but we had both picked up on her comment. “What do you mean they can’t harass you either?” I asked Alley.

“It’s fine, not a big deal, I didn’t mean to say that.”

“But you did. Alley if someone is harassing you then you need to tell us,” Jurnee said to her.

The guys were all there, obviously having overheard based on the pissed-off expression they had on their faces. Braxton tried addressing his sister now. “Sis, you need to tell me if someone is messing with you.”
