“See that is exactly what I told her too,” Summer chimed in with a dramatic eye roll.

“Honeypot?” Landon inquired, eyebrows raised in question.

The start of the night was not going as I thought it would. All eyes were on me and the whole group gathering around talking about my honeypot was not supposed to be the first topic of conversation. Or a topic inanyconversation for that matter.

Landon leaned in and whispered in my ear. “Do you want to tell me why everyone knows I have been dipping in your sweet juices?” His husky voice and words had heat flushing through my whole body.

Before I could answer my eyes caught movement and Kace was moving toward me. I turned to look at him, knowing shit was about to hit the fan. Leave it to that man to start more trouble when there was already enough of it going on.

“Hey, Alley, want to dance with me for old times’ sake?’” He smirked and waggled his eyebrows.

One time when we all had gone out, I danced with Kace and Landon hadn’t been too happy about it. Kace was just my friend. A friend who loved to stir the pot and get a rise out of his friends. The damn man was a troublemaker. But he was a good man and fun too.

A growl erupted from beside me and I turned back toward Landon to see a deep scowl on his face. Lord knows I shouldn’t have laughed, but a giggle escaped anyway. There never would be anyone but Landon, however, it was nice to see how protective he was of me even if he didn’t need to worry.

“Stay calm, Pretty Boy, Kace is just jerking your chain and can clearly see I am already taken. Always have been,” I told him.

Landon’s eyes registered shock at me admitting that and staking claim on him right in front of everyone and then softened as my words sunk in.

“Another one bites the dust,” Kace said.

The whole gang was laughing when my gaze landed back on Kace.

“Sorry Kace, we will find you a good woman and your own dance partner.”

Once again, like always when I said something like that, Kace’s fun-loving self changed.

“Don’t need one,” he grumbled and headed toward the bar.

Everyone kind of just looked at each other and let it go as we always did, but I swear that man may have had more skeletons in his closet than all of us. And they were going to jump out, making things damn messy.

Looking back at my man, I asked, “Take me for a spin on the dance floor?” I mean we were here to have fun so that was what I was going to do.

“Nothing I would rather do,” he replied.

“Nothing?” I commented back.

His deep, sexy chuckle had a ripple of want taking over my body. I was almost ready to call it a night even though we had just gotten there. Then he gave me a knowing smile and my panties dampened.

The man was lethal, and his smile should be illegal.

He grabbed my hand, twirled me under his arm, and then pulled me onto the dance floor. We danced together for a long time. Our friends joined in and it was the best night I had in so long.

That was until the blonde with the fake tits falling out of her expensive dress came marching right up to us and tapped Landon on the shoulder asking if she could cut in. My breath caught as I waited for his response. The night I had danced with Kace, this same blonde had been dancing with Landon. It killed me to see, but we were not together then, and before we had come out tonight this was something we had talked about.

I knew nothing had happened with her or any other girl in the few years we were apart because Landon had told me so and I believed him. I knew he wouldn’t lie to me, and my heart lurched knowing that I’d let the first woman years ago send me running from Landon when I should have listened to him. I wasn’t going to stand around and let this girl get in my way or make me doubt myself too.

So, I just opened my mouth to let the woman down and tell her that she may not cut in, but Landon beat me to it.

“No, Miranda, you may not!” he bit out. “As you can see, I am busy dancing with mywife.”

The Miranda woman's eyes went big as saucers at the word wife, and she sputtered, but no words came out of her perfectly lined lipstick-covered mouth. Then she huffed and walked off.

Landon wrapped his arms around me tighter and smiled down at me, before placing his finger on my jaw and shutting my mouth that was hanging wide open. I was just as shocked as Miranda that he had just announced to her, and in public, that we were married.

“Don’t look so surprised. You are my wife, and I love you, Alley.”

He leaned down and placed his lips on mine, taking them in a soft, slow kiss. Then he slid them to my ear as we moved to the music, and he whispered.
