A ray of emotions burst through me and my heart thumped erratically. A bit of pain sliced through me, and I couldn’t help but think that my little Hannah would never get her name on a beautiful bedroom wall and at the same time so much love and tenderness for my baby inside me filled me from head to toe.

What would her name be? It was something I didn’t have the answer to yet. But Landon was ready when we decided and the fact that he thought about it warmed me all over.

“She is going to adore it, Landon. You are going to make such an amazing father,” I told him as I walked his way and then right into his embrace.

It was a little girl's dream room and he had given it to our daughter, painting it himself with love touching each brushstroke. I could feel it all around us. I also had a feeling as soon as Embry saw it, she was going to be begging her uncle Landon to paint her room too. Hell, Jurnee may beg him to do Hudson’s.

Laying my head on his chest, I whispered, “Thank you. For everything.”

I let out a deep sigh and he placed his hands on my upper arms and pushed back to look at me.

“I will always take good care of our baby. I’m never going to be like her, Landon. I promise.”

Emotions took over and my voice wobbled as I spoke. Our daughter would have the things I never could wish for as a child, but the most important was she would have our undying love.

Landon seemed to know exactly who I was talking about. He had known the first time I worried about not being good enough.

“I knew since the first day I met you that you would be nothing like the woman who birthed you. I never doubted for one second that you wouldn’t be an exceptional mother.”

I glanced around the perfect room being created for our little girl and let his words sink in.

And I believe.

ChapterThirty-Four

LANDON

Alley was working too hard.

Over the last week, she had been pushing to finish the last touches on her book. The release was a few weeks away and she’d been staying up late and not getting enough sleep. She said I worried too much.

But she's my everything and was carrying precious cargo that we were both excited to welcome into the world.

When I walked into her office, I found her head on the desk, asleep.

Enough is enough.

I was putting her to bed whether she liked it or not. Touching her shoulder, I called her name. She must not have been in a deep sleep because her head flew off her desk and her body shot out of the chair like a lightning bolt.

“Geez, Landon, you scared me!” She whipped around to face me, her eyes wild.

Shit.

“I’m sorry, I didn’t mean to. I was just going to bring you to bed and then I found you sleeping.”

“I was just resting my eyes for a minute before I shut everything down.” She sighed with a sign of relief. “I finally finished and got my manuscript all loaded and things set for release.”

I was just as happy as she was at the news. It was one less thing to worry about. Plus, we still planned to get the children’s book done before the baby was born so we could relax as a family and focus on her.

“That’s awesome. I’m so proud of you,” I told her.

She got a wicked gleam in her eyes that I had seen many times, so I knew what was coming.

“Want to show me just how proud?” she practically purred, as she hopped up, placing her ass on the desk.

In just another of her long sleep shirts and panties, she opened her legs, and being a weak man when it came to my woman, I stepped in the circle of her thighs.

“You should get some sleep,” I tried telling her.
