You will forever be in mommy and daddy’s hearts, and we love you more than words can ever say. We will be thinking of you each and every day. Everyone needs an angel in their lives, and you are ours. Fly free until we can be together. All our love, Mom and Dad.

Landon had sat down next to me on the couch and pulled me onto his lap. I melted into his embrace and soaked up his warmth. Something right then I had desperately needed.

We did it. We really did it.

Next thing I knew Landon stood with me cradled in his arms and walked with me over to the entryway.

Are we leaving already?

Setting me on my feet, he stood right in front of me and then looked up toward the ceiling.Mistletoe.I guess he wanted a kiss. And while he did lean in and get one, it didn’t last. When he dropped to his knee, everyone got up and gathered around.

What was going on?

“You areMi Tesoroand I love you so much. I know we are already married, but we never got to share it with our family and friends. Baby, say you will renew your vows with me right now in front of all the special people in our lives?”

As he finished, he pulled a box out of his pocket and opened it for me to see. Inside was a stunning sterling silver heart-shaped locket. As he stood and brought it closer for me to see, there was an inscription on the top that said,A mother’s love. And when he opened it, on one side was a tiny picture of Hannah Nicole’s white shoes I had kept, with the other side blank.

I got it. Since I didn’t have a picture of her, he gave me the best thing he could to remember her by, while the other side was saved for our other girl just waiting to make her debut.

“But how would—” I started but he cut me off when he yelled out one word.

“Kace!”

“You bet, I got you covered,” Kace replied.

Since he was ordained and had married both Jurnee and Summer, it was kismet he would renew our vows with everyone surrounding us.

“Yes,” I whispered and grabbed Landon and kissed him passionately. “I’ll marry you as many times as you want, Pretty Boy.”

“Not again,” Embry said. “Someone has to take that stuff down!” she exclaimed, pointing at the mistletoe above our heads.

Laughter rang out around the room as I turned and let Landon put my necklace on. As I swiveled back to face him, my vision faltered as little white dots danced in front of my eyes, and nausea swam in my stomach, while the headache I had all night seemed to beat at my skull. I started to lose my footing and Landon grabbed my arms.

“Baby, what’s wrong?” Worry lined his handsome features.

I wanted so badly to say those vows and tell him I was okay, but deep down to my bones I knew that wasn’t going to happen. Two years ago, my body, heart and soul felt when Hannah was slipping away from me and right then I was panic-stricken that it was happening again.

“Landon, something’s wrong,” I said in a shaky voice, my heart racing with fear.

“I’m taking her to the hospital!” Landon shouted. “Someone please get me a damn car!” I knew he would feel bad later for yelling at everyone, but it was obvious he was picking up on my distress. Although at the same time, even under pressure, he managed to take care of everything and soothe me at the same time.

“It’s okay, baby. I've got you,” he whispered.

Kace had said he would drive, as Braxton and Landon led me to the vehicle. Just before I got in, I turned to look at my husband.

“Please don’t let anything happen to our baby. Promise me,” I begged him, wrapping my arms protectively around my stomach. Tears fell down my face. “Ican’tgo through losing her too.”

Landon placed me in the back seat of the car with him and I laid down, my head in his lap. Stroking my hair softly, he kept speaking to me telling me everything would be all right.

“I’m right here with you. Everything is going to be fine, sweetheart,” he said. His voice sounded panicked, but you could tell he was trying to hide it for me. “I promise.”

And I had to believe him.

Because I couldn’t imagine it any other way.
