"I did no such thing." The man growls at me. "Those were my bosses. The Diavolo brothers."

"We know all about the Diavolo brothers." Rusty clenches his fists. "They're the reason you keep boys in this basement. Your fucking secret is out. The feds know about your sick operation and they’ll hurt you if you don't let us leave."

"Nice try." The man's stony gaze locks on all three of us. When he takes a step back, his smirk is gone. "Take your scrubs off. Turn on the shower. I won't ask you again."

Arlo, Rusty, and I remove our scrubs. I shake as I pull off my white coat, exposing my naked body, then toss it to the ground. Arlo and Rusty do the same, removing each layer until we’re completely naked.

"Are you happy?" Emotion racks Arlo's voice, but he maintains his conviction. He doesn't let this man's depraved actions take away his resolve to fight, to escape, to live another day.

The man walks over to Arlo and grips his chin. "It's a damn shame my bosses will murder you when they hear how much you've talked back to me." He licks his lips. "You'd fetch a pretty penny at auction."

Arlo shoves the man. "Get your hands off me."

The man lets out a growl and slams Arlo's cheek with the gun, forcing him to the ground. Arlo cries out as he collapses against the concrete floor, shaking on the cold surface.

"Shower." The man kicks Arlo's side. "If I ask you again, I'm killing your friend."

Rusty sobs as he helps Arlo up. We get him under the shower and turn it on. Three more men enter the room as cold water blasts our faces, soaking every inch of our bodies. The men stand behind us with more weapons, ensuring we don't escape.

I help Rusty soap up Arlo's hair and bring him under the cold water. We clean ourselves and I try to think of a way to trick these men. There must be a method by which we can distract them and make a fucking run for it.

Of course, they likely have more guards outside the shower and even more in the basement rooms with cages. But all I need is one chance to escape.

"Walk." The three guards press their guns to our backs when they kick us out of the showers. “This is where you'll stay until we call you. We’re locking you inside so don't even think of trying to get out."

We step into the room… and my stomach drops. Everything rushes back in my mind.

We're in Room B surrounded by darkness. Rows of cages sit in front of us, containing the boys older than eighteen. Some boys are crying and have horrid looks in their eyes. I see one whose rib cage pokes out of his chest, and he shoots me a glance when the men push us inside.

"Inside." The men lead us to one of the smaller cages. "Now."

I put on a helpless act. "We can’t fit in there, sir. It's too small."

The man sneers as he shoves me to my knees. "Huddle with each other. You fucking fit when you snuck over to your friend Ollie's cage even when we forbade it."

"It's way too small." Rusty's lower lip quivers. "We’re too big."

"Too fucking bad.” The man shoves Rusty inside.

I sniffle after we pile into the cage. Arlo and Rusty's bodies press against me, slick with cold water. I hug my friends and wrap my arms around them to stay warm.

"We'll never get out of here," Arlo says.

I stare dead into his eyes. "Our Daddies will find us. I promise."

BENEDETTO

Adrenaline pulsesin my core as I whip around. I survey the room, my heart slamming in my chest as I comb through the employees, searching for our boys.

The fact that they disappeared the second we turned around claws at my insides. I can't believe we fucked up already.

"Where the fuck did they go?" Constantine demands.

We rush back to our production spot. We stop in front of the stainless-steel countertop, our eyes taking in everything. I see a bag of spilled chemicals on the floor, cascading everywhere. A box of capsules lies on its side.

At first, I think it's debris lying on the ground. I assume something fell out of the boxes when we unpacked them. But when I bend down to grab it, I realize it’s our boys’ special signal.
