Gianluca raises his stolen machine gun and rams a barrage of bullets into Seth. Seth flies across the room and bashes his skull against the wall, bursting into a torrent of blood.

Anton fires a shot at me, but I dart to the side and aim my machine gun at his face.

"You’ve done your fucking worse." My voice is a snarl that echoes throughout the room. "We’re taking our boys and getting the fuck out of here. Then the Antonovs will kill you all."

I’m preparing to end this sorry motherfucker’s life when I hear it.

Laughter.

Giggles.

Sweetness.

It comes from the air vent above the room. I tilt my head up and make out three shadows behind the vent. They hold something in their hands. I can't quite see them, but they all look extremely young. I squint closer, trying to figure out what the hell is going on or who they are.

"Sorry."

Three boyish voices laugh conspiratorially.

A canister of hissing gas falls into the room.

"I suggest you cover your eyes. This willsting."

Revenge.

At last.

After almost a decade of being trapped in this hellhole, I'll finally be free.

I turn to Finn and Sparrow. "Callum's down there with the Diavolo brothers and three other men."

Finn claps. "I'm so glad he's okay."

Sparrow checks his nails. "I was ready to go ape shit on this place and make them pay for hurting him. I was terrified some psycho murdered him in that alley."

I glance back through the air vent to make out what's going on. Callum has two friends with him.

They're skinny and small and they look like the rest of the boys here. They're coughing from the smoke from our makeshift smoke bomb.

I search for the remaining Diavolo brothers, but they must've slipped through the back door.

"Let's patch this shit up." I pick up the air vent. "One of the Diavolo brothers is dead but three got away."

Finn helps me secure the vent into place. "I'm so fucking glad we discovered this secret passageway. I think we saved Callum's lifeagain."

One month ago, I discovered an air vent while I was sucking one of the guards off in a storage closet. I popped the lid off and found it led to the alleyway next to the warehouse.

The first thing I did when I emerged from the manhole was search for cameras, but I couldn't find them anywhere. The Diavolos only appeared to have cameras facing the entrances of their property, not the back alley.

I told Callum to climb through the dark, slimy air vent with me to break him out.

I dragged one of the guards I murdered next to him to draw attention. I planted a bloody knife in Callum’s hand and waited until someone found him.

I hated that I needed to inject Callum with an extra dose of the memory-suppressant drugs our captors gave us every month before he escaped—they said it was a reoccurring HIV preventative but that was a lie—it was to keep us in a confused state and oblivious to the world—but I had to do it.
