Ollie raises his finger to his lips. "No talking. It’ll get us both in trouble."

"Hi, Ollie."

Ollie adjusts his grip on his knife. He’s so dainty and pale, certainly not the type of young man who should be covered in blood.

But the ferociousness in his eyes lets me know there's a reason he's dripping in crimson. And he looks like a little killer in his gear.

"Don't draw attention to me,” Ollie warns.

I step forward and turn to Benedetto. "Excuse me, Daddy. I must speak with my friend."

"Go for it. I'll be right here protecting you."

After kissing Daddy one last time, I rush forward to greet my friend.

"Ollie." I let out a sob as I thrust my arms around him, hugging him tight. "I've missed you so much."

Ollie studies me in the morning sunlight. He brushes hair from my forehead. "Are you okay? I didn't know what happened after we pushed you out of the manhole."

"What do you mean?"

"I thought I'd hear news of your escape. Your father is a prominent Senator, after all, and I searched for a sign every day. But there was nothing. It was like you vanished without a trace."

I turn around. "See that man?" I point to Benedetto. "That's my Daddy. He rescued me."

"How did he rescue you?"

"He and his brothers were planning to infiltrate the Diavolos’ warehouse this month and they had a man monitoring the property. He saw me standing in the alley with the body and called my Daddy. Daddy took me to the Hamptons so the Diavolos wouldn’t find me."

Ollie grips my arm. "Tell me what you remember. This is serious, Callum."

Callum.

Callum.

Suddenly, it all comes rushing back.Of coursethat's my name.

I'm Callum, the prominent Senator’s son from Washington DC.

I grew up in a big house with a private garden and was likely a target of one of my father's political opponents.

My three friends are Ollie, Finn, and Sparrow.

I don’t know why Daddy thinks I’m Wesley Bettencourt—he hasn’t been alive in years.

“I haven't been able to remember anything this past month." I bite my lower lip. "But being in the warehouse brought back some memories."

"I'm so sorry I needed to inject you with the medication before I pushed you out of the manhole." Ollie grits his teeth. "We needed to buy time. We couldn’t afford it if you told anyone we had a way out of the warehouse.

"Your memories will continue to return,” Ollie continues. “That injection only lasts sixty days. You'll remember the guard I killed and snuck into the air vent with you. I had to give you a double-strength dose. That's why they’re slowly coming back."

He also tells me that he discovered the air vent we crawled through leads all over the warehouse. That’s how he found the secret passageway leading over the conference room.

"I must leave now." Ollie clenches his shoulder. "I have unfinished business."

My jaw ticks. "What?"

Ollie smirks and holds up a bloody knife. "I dropped back down from the air vent after you and your partner left and mutilated the man who tried to brand you."
