At first, his doctor was worried they wouldn't. Sometimes, sex trafficking victims don't experience a full recovery and stay stuck in the years they spent in captivity. It's hard to reacquaint yourself with the world after trauma.

That wasn't the case with Callum. His doctor prescribed him medication to reverse the negative effects the drugs his captors injected him with.

He tested him for long-term symptoms. While he had a few side effects, it's nothing treatment can’t help. As soon as he completes his next round, he'll be as good as new.

And his memories about his family? Those are the best of all. It's wonderful watching him have breakthroughs, remembering amazing things about his past. He tells me about his tree fort, his mother, and the tours his father Senator Ji-Yeong gave him of Washington DC as a boy. He loves to share with me and I love listening to him with all my heart.

Sometimes, these breakthroughs occur after therapy sessions. Other times, they occur unprompted. It doesn't matter when they happen. I'm simply glad he remembers his past.

Two days ago, my angel and I facilitated a meeting with Sparrow and his father Max. His father burst into tears and he and his wife agreed to a trial period together. However, Sparrow is still a vicious assassin with Ollie and Finn. The reunion period was short-lived because Sparrow’s working with his friends to kill his abusers.

We also met with the Bettencourts to deliver the news about Wesley. Mrs. Bettencourt broke down crying, but Callum held her. He told her he was Wesley’s twin brother and even though they’d only known each other for a short period in the warehouse, Wesley was a terrific friend. He informed her that Wesley had a pet turtle and that he was a sweetie pie. I’m grateful as hell my brothers and I didn’t falsely tell the Bettencourts we’d found Wesley prematurely. Their son died in the warehouse and it would’ve been unconscionable to give them false hope.

And we still have Rusty’s abuser Wilbertson locked in the basement of the Little Bunny Club. We plan to use him as leverage when Callum’s friends hunt down the remaining Diavolo brothers. Or interrogate him to give us more information. Pickles—who wasn’t able to accompany us on our mission because of doggy day care—is guarding him right now and growling every time he tries to leave his cell. I think she deserves to eat him when I murder him.

I reach into the box of cupcakes and give one to Callum. "Here you go, baby boy." Leaning in, I press my lips against his temple. "You're doing such a good job."

Callum takes the cupcake from me. "Thank you, Daddy. You make the best treats."

We’re at the Little Bunny Club snuggling on the beanbag chair. It's been a long time coming, and this is the first time I've ever cuddled with a boy in this spot, ever. I kicked all the boys and Daddies who wanted to use it out tonight, because screw them. My boy and I need snuggle time.

Callum gasps when he looks at the treat. "Oh my Gosh." He lifts it to his eye. "It's a caterpillar, Daddy."

I can't help but chuckle as I tuck a strand of hair over his ear. "I remembered your favorite bug and made you a cupcake with it. It'll give you creepy crawlies."

"It's like Ernie." My angel's eyes moisten as he holds up his caterpillar stuffy. "Thank you, Daddy."

"Try it." I tickle him under his armpits. "Tell Daddy how it tastes."

Callum brings the cupcake to his mouth and takes a big bite. He moans as he rubs his belly, then licks frosting from his lower lip.

"It's perfect." He makes aperfectogesture with his thumb and index finger. "I'm biting into a caterpillar. But one made of yummy things."

Reaching out, I swipe a smear of frosting from his cheek. "You got a little under your nose, baby boy." I pop it between his lips. "Suck it off Daddy’s thumb."

After closing his eyes, he wraps his lips around my digit. A contented sigh escapes him, and he sinks even deeper into my body as he sucks my finger, using it like a pacifier. He sets his half-eaten cupcake down and drapes his arms around my neck.

He opens his beautiful eyes. "Did I get it all, Daddy?"

I instruct him to stick out his tongue. "Say ahh."

Callum pokes his tongue out of his mouth. "Like thith?"

I can't help but kiss his cheek when I see his tongue covered in green frosting.

"You got it all, precious boy." I pick up his cupcake and feed him a bite. "Eat the rest from Daddy's hand. You deserve a treat."

As Callum munches the cupcake from my hand, I can't help but think how lucky I am. Earlier, I was a lonely Daddy who didn't have a boy of his own. My ex-boyfriend didn't love me because of my weight and he didn't appreciate me at all. Hell, he didn't even like my cooking, which is a red flag in and of itself.

Now, I'm the luckiest freaking Daddy on this planet. Gone is the lonely man who slaved away in the kitchen to make meals for his boyfriend who didn't care. Callum appreciates everything I cook, and he gobbles it up straightaway. He has the best appetite, and he loves watching me work my magic, mixing ingredients and bowls, creating chocolate soufflés, flambé chicken and steak.

Nothing in this world compares to the kisses he gives me when I set our food on the table or the praise he lavishes on me. He could make a lifer in prison feel like a new man. With every passing day, I fall more and more in love with him. The best part is that he feels the same way.

"All gone." Callum rubs his belly. "I'm a cupcake now."

I tickle his tummy. "There's a cupcake tree growing in your stomach, isn't there, boy?"

"Yes, Daddy." Callum giggles as he latches onto me. "I'll sprout cupcakes for everyone in the Little Bunny Club. And then I'll have enough to take home to my brother, too."
