My friends stand on the ropes with their hands outstretched, and I wildly throw gloved high fives to anyone who wants one.

“Out you go,” the referee shoos us away.

Mine wasn’t the last fight of the day, so Bobby helps me through the ropes and deposits me in the locker room. Every person we passed from the ring to the showers patted me on the shoulder. People I’ve never before met in my life shout congratulations and smile as though they’d come out today just to watch me.

Best. Feeling.Ever.

I shower quickly and rush around to collect my things as I wonder how much sky writers cost to hire out. It’s a perfect sunny day today, and‘I won’would look mighty nice floating with the blue.

I brush my hair out of the tight braids and apply a nice coat of mascara to go with the confidence that I’m more badass than Chuck Norris. Shoving my things into my pink and white gym bag, I hook the strap over my shoulder and sprint out the door.

I don’t get more than two steps before I crash straight into a group, mygroup, and Jimmy lifts me into the air and hugs me so tight I can barely breathe.

He smacks a big wet kiss on my cheek and pats my ass. “Well done, princess. I’m so fucking proud of you right now.”

“Put my girl down, asshole.” Bobby physically takes me from his brother like I’m the size and weight of a toddler. He slides me down his body until my toes hit the floor and his lips connect with mine.

“Gag.” Jack whines.

“I’m so proud of you,” Bobby murmurs and rubs his hands along my biceps “So proud. Are you sore?”

Sore? I’m on top of the world, not an ache to be found. I shake my head in answer, and with a beautiful smile, he smacks another kiss on my lips and turns us to face the others.

I stand tall and bathe in their excitement as Aiden steps forward and extends his hand for a fist bump. “Good job, hon. You smashed it.”

Casey hip bumps Bobby aside and hugs me as tight as her short little arms can manage. “You looked amazing up there! Just swaggering in all chill with your man, and let’s not forgetwhoyour man is. World champion. She probably thinks you train together 24/7. She was packing her panties since she read the draw.”

Her words remind me that he’s notjustBobby outside of our home or gym. To me, he’s the big softie who wants to hug a lot and has an unhealthy obsession with pizza and my ass. But outside of our ‘safe space,’ on days like today, he’s asked for pictures and autographs more often than I have fingers.

He turns me toward the exit at the end of the hall so we can go home. Passing Jack, he hits me in the shoulder – his version of congratulations – we move outside as he falls into step with us. Jimmy walks behind us with a casual arm thrown over Izzy’s shoulder, and Casey walks out beside Jon.

I can’t believe I was scared of Iz that first time I saw her. I mean, she’s formidable when fighting, and she’s a hard ass trainer that I love to hate, but outside of that, she’s amazing. She’s funny and smart. Witty as hell and has the attitude to perfectly match the other guys – and seeing as she grew up with them, it would’ve been as vital to her as water.

We decided earlier that win or lose, we’d all go back to my house and hang out. I had a Plan B, of course, not that I mentioned it out loud. Had I lost, I was going straight to bed to never see the light of day again, but since I didn’t lose, I’m stoked for a night of pizza and good friends.

Bobby pushes open the heavy double doors and we exit into the still glaring afternoon sun. He pulls me in close to avoid losing me to Casey’s surprisingly strong grip, or to Jimmy’s wandering hands, and steps toward the cars. Our group floods from the gym, a laughing mass of silly siblings with a mutual love for fighting and bad food.

Aiden bumps Jack’s shoulder and nods toward his truck. “Wanna ride with me?”

Jack glances at Bobby and I for only half a beat, then with an eager nod, he races off and throws himself onto the bench seat and slams the door.

Jon stops at his truck and looks back to Iz. “Sissy, you need a ride?”

“She can ride with me,” Jimmy answers as they move toward his Jeep. She slides into his raised car without hesitation, spins in her seat, and tosses her gym bag into the backseat.

That leaves Bobby and me to ride alone in the Rav.

I adore them for casually making their own arrangements so Bobby and I can have five minutes of privacy. He takes my gym bag and holds the door open for me, and with a half bow and silly grin, he hams up the chivalry with a kiss on the temple, only to ruin it all with a sharp slap on the ass as I climb in.

He tosses my bag in the back seat and runs to the driver’s side, then when he climbs in, he stops to smile. “Where to, champ?”

“Can we just drive? Nowhere in particular, just cruise.” I know exactly where I want to go, but I don’t tell him yet.

“Sure thing, babe. It’s your party.” He turns to the front and switches on the stereo. I’m not even kidding; Fort Minor’sRemember the Nameblasts through the speakers. We look at each other in shock, then with an unladylike snort, I burst out laughing.

Soon, we’re cruising around town as we slowly lap each street with no plan on where we’re going. Up and down residential streets, we enjoy the music and conversation about nothing in particular.

I’m biding my time until we hit the roads closer to the edge of town. I fully intend to give this man the blowjob of his life, just as soon as it’s safe enough that we won’t be seen. The excitement from today, the drama, the adrenaline, and the love and support I received from Bobby, has had me on the edge of anticipation since my shower in the locker room.
