It’s time to take care of Bobby.

* * *

Fort Minor’s opening bass rumbles as we step out of the locker and into a wall of cameras. I mean, I know we got to watch Jimmy walk out, but I didn’t actually stop to think that the cameras had bombarded him from the second he stepped out of the locker.

Bobby’s satin robe shimmers in the lights.

His face is shadowed beneath the hood.

And his hand firmly holds mine.

Firmly.

Like, if he knew how tight he was squeezing me, he’d feel bad. We walk forward, and Jon follows closely behind. Every few seconds, the tips of his fingers touch my shoulder, and when I look over, I find his other hand on Bobby’s shoulder. He’s staying close to us both, he’s watching our back.

I’m so full of adrenaline right now, I feel likeIcould fight. Thirty or forty people surround us as we walk. Cameras are shoved in our faces and people scream at us.

Bobby doesn’t let me go. He doesn’t loosen his hold even a little bit.

The crowd roars when Jimmy, Iz, and Aiden walk down the tunnel toward us. Breaking formation and his stoic ‘I’m a badass and won’t show any emotion’ face, Bobby drags me forward and throws an arm around Jimmy.

His song continues to play. The crowd watch and wait for him to emerge from the tunnel. He’s supposed to be making his professional entrance right now, but instead, he stops to hug his little brother.

“You did good, Jimmy. Don’t sweat it.”

Similarly to how Bobby’s hand clutches mine, Jimmy’s is wrapped around Iz’s. “I’m okay, I swear.” Jimmy returns Bobby’s hug. “I’ll get it back. I’ll get it all back. Go and win that belt, let me touch it.” He smirks, though his nose looks a little…shattered. Swollen lips, swollen cheeks and eyes, purpling nose and dripping blood.

Just another day in the Kincaid household.

“Here, you can touch this.” Bobby thrusts his hips forward disgustingly. But like the children they are, Jimmy laughs.

Boys are gross.

“Good luck.” Aiden hugs Bobby next. “I’ll be with Jim and Iz out back.”

“No, we’re your corner men,” Jim decides. He turns his body back toward the arena and takes up position behind Jon. Stepping forward as far as Jim’s reach will allow, Iz moves to Bobby and hugs him tight. He presses a kiss to her head and shuffles her behind us.

“Bobby Kincaid,”the announcer booms.“Weighing in at two hundred and forty-three pounds, and standing at six feet and four inches tall…”

The crowd screams his name, they scream their love for him and their wishes to make his babies, but I simply step in close and whisper, “You’re such a fatty.”

With a smirk, he stops walking and has me squealing with delight as he picks me up and wraps my legs around his waist.

I cringe when the crowd goes wild. I’m wearing a dress! It’s not a long dress, either.

I laugh and lay my burning face in his neck. “I better carry you for a bit,” his voice rumbles just beside my ear, “you know, because I need the exercise.”

“I see no trouble in paradise, Dave.” The announcer’s voice is deeper out here compared to on TV. He chuckles playfully. “He’s just keeping her close to his chest.”

“Stay close to me, okay?” Bobby whispers into my ear.

“Can I come in the ring?” I’m joking, but the adrenaline zinging through my body makes me feel like I could step in and win.

“Can I come in your ring?” he asks with a straight face. My own face jerks back in shock at his blatant crassness, and he almost falls over with laughter. I hit him in the chest, but he continues to laugh and walk. “Alright, this is your stop. Get off me, fatty.”

He’s laughing. He’s having the time of his life. But my nerves are back. I don’t loosen my hold. I keep my legs wrapped tightly around his waist, my arms around his neck, and my face pressed close.

I can’t let him go.
