“When do you think you’ll fight?” Jack asks.

“December twenty-fourth, same as last year. I need the time. I ate too much haggis this last month.

Jim snorts, and Jack’s face scrunches with distaste. “Haggis? That crap with the heart and livers and testes?”

“No, I didn’t eat any testes, you dick.”

“Five months, then,” Jon interrupts. “Loads of time. Get you back in the octagon next week, get Jim’s fight done, we’ll smash it out and bring both belts home.”

The next morning, I sneak my training gear through the kitchen and into the front yard, and when I hear Bobby calling out, I fling the bag into the back of the Highlander before he catches me. We’re going to the gym today, and for the first time since December, I intend to train.

I don’t think he’ll love my idea…

“So you’re going to work with Jimmy today?” I avoid his gaze as we make the short drive there.Be cool.Don’t let on that I’m doing something he’llstronglydisagree with.

“Yeah, mostly I just want to watch him spar. I wanna see where he’s at.”

“Will you spar, too?”

“Probably. I feel like I need to sweat a bit of that haggis out.” He chuckles. He seriously ate a lot. “What are you going to do?”

“I’m going to hang with Iz.” It’s not a lie, but I don’t think the guys will agree withherplans, either.

“Cool. I’ll probably be an hour, two tops, then we can go home.”

“That’s alright, no rush, babe.” I look everywhere but at him as he pulls into his car space out front of the gym.

I get a warm tingle in my stomach seeing this place again. It’s truly a second home to me. We spend just as much time here as we do at our house.

I stare nostalgically as Bobby hops out and runs to my door. He opens it with a flourish and offers his hand. Totally unnecessary, but I’ll never tell him to stop. Helping me down, he places a wet kiss on my lips and sucks them into his mouth until I groan. “How am I supposed to walk in there now, distracted and with swollen lips?”

“I just wanted a taste to get me through a couple hours of training,” he murmurs softly. “I’ve had you all to myself for a month. I need something to get me through.”

“Want another?” I pull him in closer and stand tall to nibble on his lips. His stubble buzzes along my jaw and sends tingles to my toes.

“Mmhmm, I always want more.”

“Hey, lovebirds, quit it. This is a place of business.”

Bobby drops his forehead against mine with a grunt. “Fuck off, Sissy. I’m having a moment with my wife.”

She snorts. “Don’t swear at me. No one cares about shielding Jack anymore, but my baby will be growing ears soon. Don’t teach him to swear, you dick.”

“Nice, Iz. Classy.” He stands and turns to look at her. “That baby’s gonna come out swearing like a trooper, we all know that.”

“It’s not just Bean, either! You think I didn’t hear about Evie’s new word?”

The laughter bubbles up my throat at the reminder, but Bobby simply blusters at the false accusation. “That wasn’t my fault! That’s on Jimmy.”

“Thattime, it was Jimmy.Thattime it wasn’t your fault, but you still swear too much, so start practicing now before Tina or I neuter you guys.” She swings a water bottle between her hands like a pendulum and sing-songs, “You’ve been warned.”

Bobby shudders dramatically and turns to me. “I’m going inside. I need to get away from the crazy hormonal lady. You good, babe?”

“Yeah, I’ll be in in a sec. I’ll come find you later.”

“Alright, love you.” He drops a kiss on my lips and steps away. He passes Iz. “See you inside, crazy lady.”
