“She’s blonde,” he chuckles softly. “She’s tall for a chick. Not as tall as Kit, but she’d tower over Tink.”

“Everyone towers over Tink.” Jimmy laughs. “I don’t even know how that would work between her and Jon. He could use her head as a tabletop.”

“Fuck you, Jim.” Jon slams the door closed and stomps into the training room. “I heard that, asshole. Why the fuck are you talking about Casey?”

“You jealous?” I poke. “I mean, it’s not like you’re interested. She looks awfully single to me…”

“Fuck you, peacock. Change the damn subject and stop talking about her.”

Jim rolls his eyes. “We weren’t talking about her, anyway. Not really. We were talking about Aiden’s girl.”

Jon’s eyes snap over in surprise. “You’ve got a girl?”

“She’s not my girl,” Aiden grumbles.

“I’m so glad we cleared that up,” I laugh, breathless from skipping. “So, she’s a tall blonde. Every man’s wet dream.” I smirk. “What else? What does she do?”

“Dunno… She didn’t say.”

Jon takes a rope from the wall and walks back toward us. “What’s her name?”

“Dunno…”

“The fuck?” Jim hoots. “Whatdoyou know?”

“To be honest? Nothing. I ran into her in the store. Literally. We said hey, she blushed, I got wood, we talked about our cereal choices, I checked out her ass. That was it.”

Jon smirks. “Nice ass?”

Aiden snorts, but I don’t miss the nod he directs at the ground. The mystery girl has a nice ass.

“So you met a girl and walked away unsatisfied,” Jim clarifies.

“Pretty much.” He flicks his rope into a figure eight and jumps through the gap. “Unsatisfied to the point of pain.”

Fuck if I don’t know how that feels. “Sucks to be you.”

“Yup.”

“Are you intending on seeing her again?”

“I fucking hope so.” His rope whips faster and faster. “She eats Cap’n Crunch and Lucky Charms.”

“Oh, well,” Jon laughs, “it’s meant to be.”

“If you track her down in time, you could ask her to the dinner.” We have a promo dinner coming up soon. Black ties, glittery gowns, schmoozing like schmoozy schmoozers. We have to do this shit every year, every fight, and every year before Kit, it was a mild-annoyance at worst, a chance to find a pretty girl at best.

But this year, I have a wife that I intend to treat to the finer things in life.

“Maybe… but if I don’t see her again, Jon, you don’t mind if I ask Tink, right? She’s single.”
