Her ocean blue eyes flare wide. Slapping a hand over her mouth, her eyes dance with laughter. Her mother tears me a new asshole for sayingshitonce, but she lets Evie listen to gangster rap?
I can’t wait to throw this in her smug,‘don’t swear in front of my daughter!’face.
“Come here, Smalls.” Aiden lifts her from my chest and hugs her tight. She continues to giggle and thrash around. “Don’t kick me! I wanna cuddle.”
Sitting forward, I pick up a slice and work to not spill it on my baby.
“You know,” lazily, Aiden slumps into the couch with Evie in one arm and a pizza slice in the other hand, “I’ve still not met Evie’s mom.”
“What?” I shoot a glance toward the hallway. “Yes, you have.”
“No, I really haven’t.”
“Don’t be an idiot. She’s always around. They were at the wedding dumba… bum.”
He snorts. I’ve never felt so fucking lame in my life as right now when usingbumin an insult.
He looks down to Evie. “Did you go to Princess Kitkats wedding?”
Nodding her head and fighting the long string of melted cheese that stretches between her lips and the pizza, she giggles when a dollop of sauce lands on his shirt. “Uh-huh.” She looks to me and whispers, “He said shit.”
“I swear I’ve never met her,” he pushes. “I have no clue what she looks like.” He glances at the little girl who smudges the sauce on his chest, then he looks back up to us. “Is she hot?”
“Yes.” Four of us answer as one. Jack, the loudest, the dirty little perv.
Surprised by the unanimous answer, Aiden’s brows lift. He’s thinking about it.
“She’s in the room with the girls right now.” I bounce my brows. “Maybe you should go introduce yourself. She’s single…”
He kicks his long leg out and connects with mine. “I’m not hitting on my best girl friend’s mom!” He looks down at the oblivious toddler. “And I’m definitely not entering a bedroom full of crying women.”
Jack shrugs easily. “You’d think he’d be used to that by now.”
