“Good to know I’m going to be stuck for life.”
“Stuck, huh?” I fisted the hem of her dress. “I’ve been waiting a long time to find out what’s under here.”
With one swift move, I whipped off her dress and dropped it on the floor.
I ran a finger down her chest between her breasts. “Well, well Mrs. Soon-To-Be Zegas. You’re not wearing any underwear.”
She hooked her hands into my belt loops and pulled me forward. “Waste of time.”
“Are you telling me you had nothing under that barn dress?”
Her lips found mine. “Guess you’ll have to stick around to find out if this is a one-shot deal.”
“I’ll never be able to concentrate again,” I groaned.
And then she looked at me.
Those green-gold eyes pinned me in place.
They weren’t guarded or angry. Only open and honest.
Desire lit the gold specks. Something more. Something I never thought I’d see when a woman looked at me filled those green pools.
I didn’t want to name it, too afraid it might disappear.
I’d never felt closer to anyone.
Her blush spread down her neck to her chest. I liked that I could do that to her.
I lifted her onto the dryer. “If you don’t tell me what you want, I can’t give it to you.” I brushed my lips against hers.
“I told you. I want it all.” She held our heads close together and kissed me with an urgency. An intensity.
“You have all of me,” I said against her mouth.
She looked at me from underneath her lashes. “I-I can’t get pregnant anymore. And I’m pretty sure there’s rust down there.”
I kissed the corner of her lips. “No rust. I checked.”
She smiled faintly. “I want to feel you. I’m so tired of the barriers between us. Can we just be . . . us?”
She trusted me with her body. That I’d cherish and protect it.
Someday she’d trust me with her heart.
“I went through a lot of awkwardness to buy condoms.” I grinned against her lips. “The guy who worked at the drug store looked at me like there was no way I was getting any action.”
She tried and failed to give me an unimpressed look. “No need to go through that in the future.”
I laughed. Had I ever done that with a woman in bed?
I was sure I hadn’t.
“You’re about to become even more my person,” I warned.
She hooked her legs around my waist.
She held my cheeks so she could look into my eyes. I swore she saw everything and didn’t even blink.
