“Have you been researching potential projects?” I nudged his shoulder.

He scowled. “Let’s get out of here.”

I stayed rooted in place. “I’m not sure I want to. I like this jealous streak. And Neil will be back—”

I laughed as my back hit the wall.

“You temptress.”

I put my forehead to his. “I’m only interested in one man.”

“His name better be Kane Zegas.”

I clutched his hand. “The one and only.”

CHAPTERTHIRTY-TWO

KANE

“I’ve seenthe vegetable combination on the menu, but I didn’t think anyone actually ordered it.”

I set JoJo’s container of Chinese takeout on the coffee table.

She groaned. “Are we going to do this every meal?”

“Probably.” I sank down beside her and plucked the chopsticks from her fingers.

“Hey!”

“Why haven’t you called Orem Foster?” I asked as I pulled the flap on my cardboard container.

“I’ve been busy traipsing all over the city like a person who can’t settle on where she wants to work,” she said tartly.

“You like it better here. And there are no distractions.”

She lifted a brow.

NoNeildistractions. But I wasn’t going to bring him up.

I was insanely jealous. There. I said it. To myself at least.

But JoJo hadn’t given me a reason to be.

I’d heard the emotion in her voice when I’d called her my person. She wanted to be, even if she didn’t know it yet.

“I suppose that depends on your definition of distraction,” she said.

“Whitley is a pain in the ass, but he’s not coming in until later. You’ll learn to ignore him.”

“I was talking about you.”

I stabbed my chopsticks into her container. “I’m a good-looking—no, great-looking guy. I can’t blame you for staring at me all the time.” I shoved a bite of her vegetables into my mouth. “I think I need a doctor. I ate vegetables. And they’re good.”

She held a hand to my forehead then jerked it away and shook it as if it were hot. “You can’t be saved. You’re going to be a vegetarian.”

I dropped my head to the back of the couch. “Hell has officially frozen over.”

“Isn’t this cute?”
