The children always made me feel better, so I decided to go into the baby room and help some. The babies were the easiest because all they needed was food, a diaper change, and soothing. I’d recently added two new six-month-olds to the room, so I knew the teachers would be grateful for a little bit of help.

After feeding a couple of the babies, changing them and putting them down, I went back to my office to face what I’d been avoiding. Some money issues had to be handled today, so I decided to send Kerem an email. I didn’t want to talk to him. I hoped that he would be able to understand the email and not call for clarification.

Dear Kerem, I typed. “Wait, no it’s not a personal letter. It’s business,” I said aloud.

I backspaced that out and tried again,Mr. Abernathy…That’s stupid. He’s still my husband.

I backspaced that out and tried again. I settled on, “Kerem,” as a salutation. Every sentence that I typed was read then re-read, tweaked and read again before moving forward.

After composing the email for what felt like an eternity, I finally hit send. That was the most difficult correspondence I’d ever written. I had no idea why it took so much out of me, but it did.

Kerem responded to the email saying he understood my instructions and would bring the checks to the house. I responded and told him that I would send my assistant to his job to pick them up. I wasn’t ready to see him…but I missed him. I was so confused.

Maisy, my assistant, returned after retrieving the checks from Kerem. I handled the rest of the financial business, which kept me busy for several more hours. Just when I thought I’d made it through the process of contacting Kerem unscathed, I received a text from him.

Can we talk? – The Hubs

I looked at the text for several minutes, trying to decide if I was going to respond or continue to ignore him.

When?

I can come by the house after I leave the office – The Hubs

Okay

I needed to change his contact information fromThe HubstoThe Cheater.

My stomach was in knots as I approached my house and saw Kerem’s car parked in his usual parking space. I pulled in behind him and turned my car off. His car door opened and he stepped out to his full six-foot-three height. He still had on his suit from work, but he’d removed his tie and jacket. The slender cut slacks looked good on him. I was happy when he started buying the slim cut pants. They showed off the slight bow in his legs and his toned thighs and ass. It’s crazy how attracted to him I still was after so many years of being together.

He walked to my car and opened my door.

“Hey,” he said as I stepped out.

“Hi,” I responded, trying to disguise the shaking in my voice. I was nervous for some reason.

He followed me into the house and stopped in the living room. I walked down the hall to drop off my bags and kick off my shoes.

I returned to the living room and found him in the same spot.

“So?” I shrugged and sat down in the recliner and tucked my legs under me. “You wanted to talk, so talk.”

He sat on the couch across from the recliner and reached for my hand. I retracted my hand out of his reach.

He took a deep breath.

“Baby, I’m sorry. Tell me what you need for us to get past this?”

“Honestly, I don’t know if this is something we can get past. I don’t know if I can continue with a man who would disrespect me like this. And this bitch you’re protecting…”

“I’m not protecting her.” He quickly interrupted. “What do you want to know?”

“EVERYTHING! I want to know when you were with this bitch. Where did you tell me you were when you were with her. How long had this been going on?”

“It didn’t go on in the sense of a long term relationship or anything like that. At first, it was just simple conversations, and then the conversations became more personal.”

“More personal? What does that mean?”
