“We’ve all seen the love that you and Reem exhibit. Most of us are high key envious of the way he treats you and the way you smile when you talk about him even after all these years. It would appear that we are all staying out of the way and letting you come to your own conclusions.”

“Why did he do this, Cam? It hurts like hell!” I said, dabbing my eyes.

“Niggas is stupid, and I consider Reem to be one of the coolest dudes I know. He’s still a nigga and niggas is stupid. That’s the answer to that. So, who is this bitch and when are we rolling up on her to beat her ass? I know Inspector Gadget Bird filled you in on all the deets.”

“Yeah, she found some things like, her name and where she works. I have a picture of her from her social media. I just don’t know why her?”

“Well you know I’ve put up my boxing gloves, basically, but I will whoop a disrespectful bitch on GP.”

“I know you will!” I laughed.

“Let me know cause I will mold this hair down, put some Vaseline on my face, and beat that hoe. She’ll cringe when she even looks in a married man’s direction!”

“I’ve been torn with that too. Like some people say that you shouldn’t be mad at the female because she’s not the one you have the vow with…”

“Girl, please! Everybody can get it. Do you hear me? If that bitch knew about you and still spread her legs, then she needs her ass whooped. If that bitch spread her legs and didn’t know about you, but later found out, then she needs her ass whooped. There is no scenario in my mind where she doesn’t emerge with an ass whooping!” Cam laughed.

“You are crazy!” I chuckled.

There was a tap on the door.

“Yes,” Cam said after opening the door slightly.

She opened to door more to receive a bouquet of beautiful roses in various hues of purple. She smiled at me as she carried the vase towards me.

“Who sending you flowers?” I asked.

“Oh, these aren’t for me. These are for you, Mrs. Abernathy,” she smiled while reading the card.

“What?”

She placed the vase on a table close to the station and handed me the card.

I saw on our calendar that your hair appointment was today. I love you, Mrs. Abernathy. Please forgive me. Your husband, Kerem.

Our calendars were synced so we always knew when the other one had appointments or meetings.

I rested my head back on the chair after reading the card. I wanted to keep the tears in, but they just ran out the sides of my eyes instead.

“Oh sweetie, at least he’s trying to apologize, right?” Cam soothed.

“It should’ve never happened!” I returned.

“True.”

I got up from the chair to examine the bouquet of roses. They were beautiful. Roses were my most favorite flower. When we first got married, he would bring a rose home every Friday along with some take-out. We would sit on the couch, eat, and watch some movie that both of us had probably watched a million times. That was our date night, and we loved it.

I put the card back in the holder and sat back down in the chair. The gesture was grand, but it wasn’t enough.

“Enough about my messed up situation, tell me some of the gossip going around here to get my mind off this crap.”

“Well, I got a new neighbor,” Cam smiled.

“Is he cute?”

“How do you know it’s a he?”

“Cause finding out about some regular-smegular bitch becoming your neighbor wouldn’t take my mind off this situation.”
