“Key!”

I heard Kerem call again. He was closer, but I still wasn’t turning around or stopping.

I felt him grab me from the back. I swung around and slapped his hand off of me.

“Don’t fucking touch me, Kerem!”

“I’m sorry,” he said with both hands in the air. “I was just trying to get you to stop.”

“Get away from me.”

“Baby…”

“I don’t want to hear nothing from you, Kerem. Leave me alone. Go back and make sure your girl is okay.”

“I’m not going back. I told you that was a one and done. I don’t have any feelings for her. I could care less if I ever see her again. I’m sorry she was there and even more sorry that she came over to us, but I had no idea she would be there. I’d never spoken to her about this event. Key, please at least let me take you home.”

I wasn’t sure what my plan was, but I knew that my house was too far away for me to walk home.

“I will get an Uber,” I responded.

I pulled my phone from my purse to navigate to the app.

“Key, come on!” Kerem yelled. “I didn’t have anything to do with that!”

I pushed the button to request the Uber and put my phone back in my purse.

“You had everything to do with that! What the hell are you talking about? You should’ve kept your distance from her, but did you do that? No! You should’ve kept your dick in your pants but did you do that? No!”

“Is this going to be the conversation every time we get together? I get it! I fucked up. I’m trying to make this right!”

“Nope, it’s not. The next conversation we have will be about whether or not you want the house or if I want it,” I seethed.

The Uber pulled up to the curb in front of us. He must’ve been in the park already.

“You really called a cab?”

Kerem snatched the front door of the car opened and yelled, “She doesn’t need you! I will take her home.”

“Wrong! You won’t do nothing for me!” I returned.

I opened the back door and got in the car.

“Key! Are you serious? Get the fuck out of that car, now!” He demanded.

For a brief second, I thought about getting out. Then I changed my mind.

“Bye, Kerem!”

I closed the car door. He stood and looked at me for a few seconds before he closed the front door of the car and stepped back.

I didn’t like the look of defeat on his face. If this had been any other argument, I would’ve probably caved, but nope, not this time.

“Are you okay, Miss?” The Uber driver asked.

“Yes, I’m sorry about that. He was out of order.”

“Are you sure you will be safe if I take you to your destination?” The Uber driver asked.
