“And that’s the name,” Kerem confirmed.

“Shut up!” Robin chuckled.

“Yeah, The Carter Recreational Center,” I responded proudly.

“Carter is our mother’s maiden name. Keeva told our Paw Paw that the building was in honor of him,” Averie chuckled and rolled her eyes.

“KEY!” Robin laughed.

“I mean,” I shrugged, “It can have two meanings.”

We continued our conversation through as the game started. Neither one of us paid much attention to what was happening unless the crowd reacted, then we would.

“Oh, my goodness. I didn’t know they were still doing that kiss cam thing,” Averie said.

I turned my attention to the jumbotron and saw my face on the screen. Next to me was Kerem on one knee.

I quickly turned to him, having flashbacks of when he asked me to marry him.

“Keeva Abernathy,” his voice echoed throughout the park. “I’ve loved you for all the years of my life that I can clearly remember. Fifteen years ago, on this date, I asked you to be my wife during a Cards home game. Tonight, I want to ask you if you will say yes again and renew our vows.”

He opened a ring box and revealed a huge princess cut solitaire on a white gold band.

“Yes,” I said through my tears.

Kerem placed the ring on my finger and kissed me while the crowd cheered for us.

The Abernathy’s are permanent,” Kerem said.

“We are permanent,” Keeva echoed.
