Donny held the door for Andrea, allowing her to walk into the cavernous space. A few tables were filled with the inn’s guests and a few walk-ins for the lunch hour.

Kay, another of the bubbly waitresses, led them to a seat closer to the back. Donny pulled out Drea’s seat, and she thanked him as she sat.

“Would you like to order now?” the petite young woman asked, her writing pad perched to take their order.

“Not for me, thanks, Kay,” Andrea declined before turning to Donny, waiting for him to decide if he wanted to order anything.

“I am a bit famished, but I would feel better ordering if you’d let me get something for you,” he spoke. “You can order anything you like. I won’t mind.”

Andrea raised a brow at him. “You do realize that I practically own this restaurant, right?”

“I know,” he acknowledged, “but I would appreciate it if you would accept my offer. It’s my way of showing you that chivalry isn’t dead.”

“I can come back when you have decided,” the waitress chimed in after standing there observing their discomfort.

“No,” Andrea replied, “I’ll order. I’m taking up Mr. Hasgrove here on his offer.”

The smile that made its way onto Donny’s face made it look as if he had just won a prize he really wanted. Andrea ducked her head to look at the menu, not wanting to be affected by that smile.

“I’ll just have the grilled chicken spinach salad,” she said.

“And for you?” the waitress asked, turning to Donny.

After Donny placed his order, the waitress left them.

Andrea raised her head to see Donny already staring at her.

“What?” she asked self-consciously.

“I was just wondering when I became Mr. Hasgrove,” he replied, his voice filled with disappointment.

“It’s better that way,” she reasoned.

“For who?” he fired back.

She didn’t answer.

“I’m sorry, Andrea, it was out of place,” Donny apologized.

“It’s fine,” she replied, giving him a polite smile.

“So, what I wanted to show you, were these. I just need your approval on the final edits, and then I’ll be finished by next week.” Andrea showed him the photos she had decided on using and ran him through the final design of the website, giving him a demonstration of the ease at which the information would be available to the public.

“Yeah, I mean, it all looks good. I’m not technology smart by any means, but I liked the demonstration of how easy it looks to use. Of course, you have the go-ahead,” Donny approved.

She was pleased to know that he liked everything.

After their lunch meeting, Donny walked her toward her house.

“Thanks for stopping by. I’m happy you like the presentation. Everything will be ready by next week,” she informed Donny as they stood at her front door.

“Andrea, wait…”

Andrea looked down at the hand that lightly grasped her upper arm, preventing her from opening the door. She turned to look at Donny. As if just realizing that he had touched her, he quickly released her arm as if it were on fire.

“I’m sorry,” he apologized.

She shook her head, unable to respond verbally as her heart beat erratically against her chest, and she waited in anticipation for what he had to say to her.
