“I can’t believe we stayed away as long as we did, and yet, while everything moved forward, it’s like it was just waiting for us to come back to pick up where we left off,” Cora mused.

The others nodded in agreement.

They all stripped down to their swimsuits before diving into the calm blue waters.

Andrea felt carefree as she enjoyed the warmth of the water.

“Race me,” she heard Josephine challenge Cora, who had been floating on her back.

“I’ll be the official,” Andrea offered.

“All right,” Cora agreed, flipping over. “I must warn you, though, Jo, I’ve still got it from high school.”

“And I don’t?” Josephine rebuffed.

“All right, contestants, take your places,” Andrea ordered in an official tone.

The sisters snorted at her act.

“On your mark… set… go!”

The two sisters took off toward the boat, and Andrea stayed back, watching them go with a smile on her lips.

Josephine was the first to touch the boat, making her the winner.

“Better luck next time, Grandma,” she teased her sister.

“Why, you little…”

Cora took off after her sister, who swam away, evading her.

Andrea laughed at their antics. As her laughter died down, a smile of satisfaction settled on her face as she realized that her family was together again. She was in the phase of young love, and she couldn’t be happier.

If she chose optimism to think that the glass was half full rather than half empty, then as she looked at her sisters laughing and splashing each other before her, then everything was falling into place, and she couldn’t be happier.
