Epilogue

“All right, everyone’s got their tickets, right?” Andrea looked around the room at her family and friends with satisfaction as she received nods of confirmation.

“Great, we leave in the next fifteen minutes. Did anyone get an update from Ben? How far away he is right now?”

Jo looked over at Marg, looking back at Andrea wide-eyed. “No, I haven’t. I thought he would have informed you?” Her last statement was more of a question.

“No, he didn’t. Let me call him.”

“Sorry, I’m late, guys. I had a client today that I almost had to bend over backward to accommodate, but I’m here now. What did I miss?”

“Almost the whole concert,” Andrea muttered, looking at her cousin through the side of her eye.

Jo chuckled at how serious her sister got whenever it came to going to a concert put on by her favorite band. She could turn into a diva, literally.

“All right, Drea. Everything will be okay. Stop worrying,” Jo encouraged her.

“I’m not worried. I just want us to stick to the schedule I set for us to make it there on time to get the best spots for viewing,” Andrea reasoned.

“And we will. We aren’t, of course,” Jo countered, trying to calm her sister’s nerves. She looked over at Marg, who seemed to want to crawl out of her skin and run away. She noticed Ben walking over to her and saying something to her. Finally, a smile broke out as she shook her head, and this caused Jo to smile. Maybe there could be something there.

She looked over at Cora and Jamie, already laughing in their own bubble. Donny had his hand on Andrea’s shoulder, his fingers seemingly kneading out the tension.

Kerry and Tessa were laughing and joking with Becky and Jules, which brought another warm smile to her lips.

She felt a slight, warm pressure on her fingers and looked down to see that Daniel had entwined their fingers. He smiled tenderly down at her. Her fingers tingled with heat all the way up her arm and over her neck, flushing her cheeks slightly pink. Memories of their kiss from their last date were ever-present in her thoughts, and she just couldn’t wait until he acted upon his feelings again.

Looking around at everyone once more, a soft grin graced her lips as she realized that this was the best place for her to be because this room was filled with love and affection and the evidence of restored relationships. In this room was the beginning of beautiful friendships and the hope of a second chance at love and happiness. If she had stayed back in Tacoma or gone anywhere else, she wouldn’t be experiencing what she was right now.

“Are you okay?” Daniel asked as he beamed down at her.

Without hesitation, Jo raised to the tips of her toes and planted her lips against his. She heard the gasps of shock and excitement from the room, but her only focus was on how good it felt to be reunited with him.

When she finally separated from the kiss, she looked up at the man that was slowly stealing her heart with a tenderness she never thought she would be able to give again.

“I am.”
